What you say makes perfect sense and exactly what I would expect of competent, trained bar staff. However, it doesn't fit in with the email's line of "only show ID once.....you can also deposit your ID in the Lock-Ups for safe keeping"

Now, I'm not arguing with you at all as I think its better to be certain of a persons age when serving them than risk upsetting them by asking for ID even though they have a wristband.

I can see a fair few youthfull looking over 18's with wristbands getting miffed about being asked for ID even though they have the wristband as "proof" of age and have been advised by the festival that their ID could go in the lockups.

I genuinely believe that there's been a serious lack of communication between certain people at the top of the festival and the Eavis' this year. For me, the Eavis' have been making as encouraging statements as ever about keeping the ethos, limited commercialism, and I reckon there's decisions being made without them being informed.

It's a problem at all festivals that run this system - the festival issues the wristband but the WBC run the bars, so if the festival issue the wristband to someone underage and WBC get caught serving them it's the WBC that get fined and not the festival. Unless the WBC can completely trust the person issuing the wristbands - and when it isn't someone that's working for WBC that's very hard - then they are right to check even if someone has a wristband.
