Generally agree with you about the World Cup there, I've got a few different predictions, but agree with the overall trends.

I genuinely don't think Baines would make a huge difference to a big team. He's not experienced in the Champions League so I imagine will struggle defensively and while he's great going forward teams can nullify him with a gameplan. I think getting £16m for him would be a fantastic deal for Everton.

I agree, i think £16m would be an excellent piece of business, but I really don't think Everton would part with anything sub £12m for Baines, and given that United splurged £27.5m on Fellaini, i think we could easily stretch them for that.

I really don't think Baines is praised enough, i think he's a tremendous defender, and he's excellent attacking, his overlapping, is superb, his delivery is usually superb and he can take a set piece. However, i don't think you'd have heard me say 'let him leave' 6 months ago, how things chance.

When Arteta left, gutted. When Fellaini left, delighted at the fee, and loss of a foul machine, and now Oviedo is shining, Baines leaving means we can strengthen, and i believe Martinez has what it takes to do it. The margins are slim, but should we make the top 4 this season, we really can build on our team. I certainly can't envisage, United, Chelsea, Spurs having ropey starts to next season either! Arguably, i'd say Chelsea's isn't even that disastrous.

Also man utd have a track record of success that everton can't match. For all man utd problems, u still see them as more likely to win the league in the next 5 years than everton.

Hmmmm ... if Man Utd drop out of the top 4 this year - and the numbers make it difficult for them to make the top 4 as things stand right now - then I think it's hugely unlikely that they'll win the league in the next five years.

Dropping out of the top four makes a downward spiral the most likely scenario (unless there's a change of ownership at the club) by quite a long way, tho if they somehow did manage to bounce straight back in there they will no longer attract 'top top' players in the same easy way they used to (such as with RVP) for all of the while that Moyes remains in charge (and perhaps even if he doesn't).

And yet Sturridge has scored once since October.

If you care to notice, there's no mention of Sturridge in those words I quoted, only mention of how Suarez won't add to Liverpool's goals.

Plus, it does help Sturridge to score if he's actually playing ... he's not been available for the last 3 games, was unfit for the one prior to that (tho still scored in the 10 minutes he was on the pitch), and so what you mean is that ....

Of the three matches that Sturridge has played in since October, he's only scored in one.

Which is hardly shit by anyone's reckoning.

What's your point again? Do you even have a point?

Or do you just fucking hate being shown up as not knowing everything, and so always go on the attack not caring how pathetically weak your attack actually is?

Oh dear.

If you were to find your sense of humour you'd be a much nicer bloke. :)

Er conveniently ignoring the other words you quoted - like "change in personnel"

If Sturridge was fit, perhaps he would be scoring too. Or perhaps he wouldn't. We don't know.

Not relevant.

Suarez is causing Liverpool to score more goals than they were scoring. Which makes you indisputably wrong.

Get over it. The rest of us do.

I'll reserve judgement until the end of the season thanks. Scoring heavily against two poor relegation battlers at home is hardly a yardstick to measure by.

Liverpool have to play at Tottenham, City, and Chelsea before the turn of the year, let's see how many they score in those games...

Ahhh, the moved goal-posts "win". I get you.

Given that you've got no way of knowing how many goals would be scored in those games with and without Suarez, it's not relevant.

The only measure for what you've said can be between how many Liverpool were scoring when Suarez was banned, and now many they're scoring with him back - and the stats get to show their scoring has increased.

You lose. Get over it.

(and that wasn't even the specific quote I was wanting to find. I wasn't looking for an argument, merely a pisstake - which it's clear you can't handle, because you just can't be wrong in the game where everyone is wrong, can you?).

Without Sturridge and now Gerrard.

Still lots of movement in the table between now and the new year.

Can't see Utd doing any worse! Badly need a creative midfielder. Shite centre mid at the moment.

As I said in a post (I think) yesterday morning, if liverpool get 6 points from the next 4 games, they'll make the top 4 I reckon. Whether they get those points tho is another thing.

I'm not sure they'll miss Gerrard too much tho, especially as Allen looks to be back in the swing of things. He was good on Saturday, but that's been one of his better games this season. I reckon his effectiveness is fading fast now.

Utd now need a miracle turnaround in their form to make top 4, and I just can't see it happening. Moyes sounds like he's lost confidence in his own decisions (which will infect the squad), with him not taking RVP off because the crowd would have turned on him, and as Saturday showed they're a team with no drive if Rooney is not on the pitch.

I can't write then off totally just yet, they're Utd. But it's hard to see where that extra will come from without fergie booting them up the arse.

I think UTD are lucky the next game is Villa: Should be an easy enough win for them...

oh, there's games Utd will win, but can they win enough? Not with a manager who can't see what his best 11 is, and who can't inspire confidence in the players because of that.

A week or two ago Utd were moving much closer to the top 4, and some utd fans here started to relax, thinking that was them back on a roll. But as I pointed out those points were coming without the team showing any decent form and that some results would go the other way and the gap stretch out again - as has happened.

It's very nearly at the point where to make top 4 they'll need to show the same form for the 2nd half of the season as Arsenal have shown in the first, and that's just not going to happen as things stand.

Everton have some easy enough games coming up to keep them top 4: Sunderland, Cardiff and West ham i believe.

yeah, they're looking very good, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them top 4 at the end of the season - tho I reckon they're more of an outside chance at the mo, as they have a bit of difficulty scoring &/or winning compared to others around them.

And how about Crystal palace winning 3 games since Pullis came in...

yeah, and the improvement at S'land too. I'll be surprised if either of those are for the drop at the end of the season with how things look right now.
