I bet Wigan would disagree!! Im personally in favour of getting rid of the league cup as I think 1 cup competiion is sufficient in these days where people have so much access to the game.

Where's the financial gain though for EPL sides in them?

It's tough enough for a team like ours (WBA) to survive in there without the 'distractions' of cups..

With it being acceptable for the cups to be labelled distractions annoys me, it's a proud day when you win the cup (not that I'll ever bleedin' see it) but the respect should be there still..

But what about when a player is actually injured and then gets treatment? As is referenced in the article, it'll be a very brave referee who says a player isn't injured, and the moment they get the call wrong in accusing a player of exaggeration and forcing them to spend extra time off, they'll get a hell of a lot of slack.

I just think retrospective punishment for it is the best solution.

Surely being in the league cup semis and relegation zone, the far cup is the lowest priority? To me it would be odd to sack him after this game, if they were going to sack him surely after the league game would have made more sense.
