Suarez ( off the top of my head ) are very hard not to have an opinion on because they're all such massive arseholes.

Suarez can certainly be an arsehole, but the more I watch him the less I think he is an arsehole.

He's like a kid in a sweetshop, tho more than just being happy to take the sweets he can get he wants to fight the other kids to get all of the sweets he wants. But he'll help hand around sweets to the other kids too, much like the way he retrieves the ball that's out of play to give to the opposition.

I see it as a mad passion for football, far greater than anything we've ever seen.

Whereas Terry is just an arsehole. :P

As I've said, next season is the key. I didn't suggest that the team themselves just look to next season, but the supporters need to be prepared for the massive disappointment of getting absolutely nothing for their efforts this season, outside of a Europa League slot, and is that even certain?

Next season is the key and that's where we'll see exactly what Moyes is made of. He's made an arse of one summer transfer window. If he makes an arse of another one, then the questions can begin IMO. This season is going about how I expected it to go for them.

Who apart from Mata is Moyes gonna sign that's desperate to take a year off from CL footie? :P

I love watching him play. But if it's his passion that makes him an arsehole, he's still an arsehole. There's no getting around that.

now that he's mostly stopped with the falling over and rolling around, there's really only joy to see with him.... till the next time he bites someone, anyway.

I don't think I've ever seen a player aged over about 14 that just wants to play football in the way that he does.

The club have probably had to ban him from his local park, to stop him playing three matches a day with the kids there.

In regard to the whole Champions League thing, I think it's Liverpool's spot to lose, but I can see them losing it. The problem is I don't see any of the other teams being good enough to chase. I think Spurs have the best squad of the 4 teams, but the weakest 1st 11. All teams seem mentally fragile to me, except possibly Everton, but they're really lacking in squad depth. I think no matter what happens the teams that finish 5th and 6th will end up feeling it's their failure rather than the 4th place being that good.

So just the plastic fan base then?

Quite amusing that you were one of the plastic Liverpool fans, then decided he didn't want to be a Liverpool fan when they weren't winning leagues.

If you count plastic being a Liverpool fan till age 12 as a result of my Liverpudlian best friend, then yes I was a plastic fan.

Everything else you make up as cover for you just not liking some people not liking Utd.

We're allowed to, you know. :)

Although I'm sure that will change if they do start winning leagues again....

I'm enjoying watching Liverpool at the mo, as the result of one player.

Then again, I'm watching nearly as many City games, about the same number of Utd games (good comedy value almost guaranteed), and still loads of Arsenal games.

I never much watched Utd even when they were winning, but I guess that makes me a glory hunter, eh?

So anyway. Serious question time....

Utd fans have been saying for the last decade+ that their success has built on their fanbase (rather than via a sugardaddy) and the income that fanbase brings them.

But of course these things are inter-related - success DOES bring fans. And so the opposite must also be true.

Utd have just about kept up in the age of the sugar-daddies, and the FFP rules will no doubt help too, but now they face a significant drop in income from on-pitch stuff as well as a significant drop in new-fan recruitment to effect the off-field stuff (and it's primarily the 'new' fans that buy the merch).

It's scarey stuff, even before starting to think of the spend needed to put them where they might not need to be scared.

Hold on efests... do you actually stop watching a team when they aren't winning as much?

Nope, I stop watching teams that play not so interesting football. It's the match that I enjoy as a spectacle (if it is), not the result.

My first choice to watch for gawd knows how long now has been Arsenal, because of how they play football.

I've perhaps (I'm really not sure) chosen to watch Liverpool matches in preference to Arsenal in more recent weeks, but I know that until the day L'pool played Norwich I was defo choosing to watch Arsenal first (cos I was watching Arsenal as Suarez banged them in).

I was a Liverpool fan as a kid. Nowadays I get closest to an Arsenal fan perhaps, but ultimately it's the game I love and not a team.

But with that, at any time I like some teams more than others. For instance, I finally warmed to Chelsea in Drogba's last season because he became such a monster; before that I didn't particularly like them, and am about back there again. If I ever find enough to like about Utd I'm sure I'll start to like them.

It's not to do with winning, and it's not to do with tribalism. It's about the game.

Haha classic neil, it's very rare you talk about Arsenal on here.

As a rule it's either Liverpool or man united...

Baiting. :)

I'm gonna talk about Utd's fall - and enjoy it - and it's particularly good that Utd fans have been so busy saying how shit and lucky Liverpool are that they didn't notice their own ship going down.

Thanks Alex, I'm finally warming to you.:lol::lol::lol:

Outside of Willian who has been absolutely woeful, Chelsea have been top notch and are well worth their lead. Aye, they've been cautious, but not to the point of not having a go themselves and this could actually be two or three to the good for them. Demichelis has played his own role in this game, as he looks like he's scared out of his wits any time he has anything to do and it seems to be spreading. They NEED to get him off.
