zahidf
I dont think they will lose all 4 games against the toughest opposition, particularly with 2 of the matches at home. I looked at Man citys fixture list, they have a lovely run for the next 6 or 7 games and could be out of reach after that. Arsenal have Man Utd (h) and liverpool (a) coming up and these are the sort of games they need to make an impact if they are going to win the title. zahidf
neither of those teams will get that many points.
LondonTom
There isn't any real answer. Former referees have come out and said it's a mental thing. It's not a black and white issue with an easy answer. We're talking about humans after all here. They're not robots that can simply blank stuff out. pink_triangle
Man City will smash them. And their home form isn't up to much at the moment...
eFestivals
What do you reckon points wise?I'd have to sit down and think about it, but as a generalisation it's near enough impossible for 6 teams to finish with 70+ points. It's pushing things for 4 teams to finish with 70+ points, if you look back over previous seasons. eFestivals
and the gif of Big Andy getting sent off for brushing Flores' ponytailhe was trying to get him tho, so that makes the red about right.
zahidf
Maybe Man City will smash them, derbies can often be very different games and difficult to predict. However its unlikely (not impossible) that they will lose all the others.
pink_triangle
Based on current form, i find it hard to see how they can beat Everton away ( When everton beat them at Old Trafford) Man City in any circumstances ( I think Aguero will be back for that one), Liverpool (even at home) and Arsenal away. Maybe they can get a draw from one of those games of they are lucky i guess.

Very scummy.

mrtourette
Holy cow I've only just noticed that Adel Taarabt joined AC Milan on loan. That's quite an upturn in fortune.
DomDom1984
As far as I'm concered, Andy Carroll swung the arm to hit Chico. Violent conduct and a red card. There was no way West Ham were going to win that appeal.

TheGayTent
My first post in the football thread so I will talk about something that has frustrated me for years. Why do the top teams get such preferential treatment from the referees? It is extremely annoying when you support one if the lesser teams. I am a stoke fan and everybody seems to hate us anyway. This is fine for football fans but the refs should be more professional and it should not affect the decisions they make. Some of the performances I have seen over the last few years have been nothing short of disgraceful the game at castle about a month ago was probably the worst. This is not just stoke though but all of the lesser teams and it happens every week. It makes it worse when you are playing Chelsea and terry just follows the ref round for 90 mins. It should not be allowed to happen! Do people agree and what do people think the reasons are for this? I honestly think the refs are star struck by the big name players. I have read Fergie's book and although throughout his career (later on) his team seemed to get every decision. He questions the standard of the English referees and says that are not good enough, I wholeheartedly agree.

DomDom1984
A better example of reputation being a factor has been the treatment of Suarez this season, who I think could get a gun pulled on him and shot through the head and referees would wave play on. TheGayTent
It's still quite a fortunate turn of events for him though. They aren't any worse than Fulham or QPR.

TheGayTent
Well after weeks of phone calls and emails, I gave up trying to arrange tickets for FC Twente next weekend. So i've sorted Werder Bremen tickets instead. Took less than 5 minutes - gotta love German efficiency. Weekend itinerary now looks thus: Friday - PSV Eindhoven v Heracles Saturday - Werder Bremen v Borussia Monchengladbach Sunday - Ajax Amsterdam v Heerenveen I leave at 7am on Valentine's Day, which is also the day after I move into my new house - the missus is fine with it, definitely a keeper

adam1234
Also on the Carroll thing Flores committed a worse offence. Watch the video on the last page,he climbs all over Carroll, puts his arm all around his neck in a headlock and then his arm swings towards Carroll in the same way that Carroll's arm swings towards him. It should have been a free kick to Carroll and play on. At the most a yellow for Flores
