I think Scotland should go into qualifying with confidence, if you had beaten wales (which you easily could) twice then you would have been on the verge of the play offs. Having said that with us (wales) being in the same seeding pot, I think we have ended up with the best deal even if Belgium coming out as the second seed ruined it slightly. In fact Im not sure I would swap with any other team from the 4th pot We have a chance of getting a play off place. That's why Im in favour of the expansion to 24 teams as it gives more teams hope of doing something, rather than just making up the numbers.

You realise that the top two automatically go through and its afew of the best third place teams that are in the play offs right?

If Wales can't get second in that group with Bale then they really never will reach the finals.

Bloody hell is that true? Is that all grounds? I do find that very surprising I must say.

I'm pretty sure I've not mis-represented that research (tho I might have, it's a while since i read it; if so, I'm not so far away from what it says).

For some less-usual statistics around football, "Soccernomics" (or "why England lose", it's previous title) by Simon Kuper and Stephan Szymanski is a very interesting read.

The Scots should qualify - Poland are very overated in the UK media because of 2 good players - were poor in their home Euros and pish in Englands WC group.

Scots take heart from the beeb "Germany are ranked second, the Scots are 34th, Ireland 67th, Poland 70th and Georgia 103rd, while Gibraltar have yet to be ranked ahead of playing their first competitive fixture"

Wrexham manager gone today, amazingly in my 26 years of supporting the next man will only be the 8th manager I have known. Many clubs have had that many in the last 8 years!

Looking at the odds for the next manager, I am a bit concerned to see Robbie Fowler so high up!

Well, Sky made a blunder there. Don't see how they managed it either. Newcastle/Villa was never a more attractive prospect than Liverpool/Swansea. Swansea's pressure was the key for much of the game. Thought De Guzman and Bony played excellent stuff. I'd have given Bony MotM even if there was some luck for him along the way.

so, rooney earns twice as much every day 7 days a week as many people do for a whole year's work.

So which ones of you are helping fund such stupidity? I'm pleased to say that I fund it less than most cos I don't have any subscription TV, but even then I've not escaped it entirely because of the licence fee.

For the 1st time in my life I want all Prem footie to be on subscription channels only.

The majority of football fans help fund such stupidity in one way of another.

yup.

It's more the stupidity I was getting at than the fans tho. It's quite reasonable for people to like a game, it's not reasonable how much some are rewarded for playing that game.

Ultimately it's accepted because too many would like a similar opportunity to coin it to the same extent themselves (if they had that opportunity), but nothing of that says getting rewarded so hugely for doing so little makes any sense.

Or to be more accurate about predicting it :P (Bloomberg Predictor :P)

That didn't work well so: http://www.bsports.com/projectedtablesepl

West Ham in 10th :D

Intrestingly Man Utd still have an apparent chance of top 4 at 5.3% which is less than Liverpool's title hopes at 5.9%.
