WS_Jack_III
I genuinely think everybody is overreacting.
DomDom1984
Oh, and you see footballers shove each other all of the time in football. How many times do you see a headbutt as a result? That sort of stuff is saved for the morons of this world. i.e. Alan Pardew.
kaosmark2
No but he gouged the eyes of one of Barca's backroom staff. And Pardew has previous.
DomDom1984
How many times does it happen? It's certainly not something that happens even close to a majority of the time.
dentalplan
You do see it happen quite often, not a 'majority of the time' but there was a headbutt the other day in the Spurs game was there not? Although it is extremely from a manager, Pards is going to get it in the neck quite badly here.

WS_Jack_III
Yup. Been put on Twitter, albeit a shit Vine video.
DomDom1984
Oh, of course he won't resign. Not even sure he should either. Obviously there's a responsibility thing there, but you can aim that at anyone who blames a referee too.
kaosmark2
The headbutt is far more comparable to Remy's little nudge than it is to Zidane's brutal one, or some of the Argentinians in earlier WCs.
thetime
Not really a headbutt, you can't have managers do that can you though?

t8yman
He got pushed for no reason and squared up to the lad. One of the most common occurrences in football.
WS_Jack_III
He didnt get pushed for no reason, meyler cushioned his inevitable impact with pardew with his arms, he didnt push him. Pardew then pushed meyler away with his head, like it or not - that is butting someone with your head, something a player would be carded for, and a manager should know a lot better than to get involved in. I saw it replayed on a live stream a few times, my missus and the lad have just got back from the game, and they saw it plain as day too. DomDom1984
A manager should not be doing that. The only people overreacting are the ones calling for his head. Other than that, he deserves every bit of stick he gets for it.

DomDom1984
Of course, and I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt in thinking you've missed my point of how one can be worse than the other. Lead by example and all that. Do you think the calls for his head came for no reason? Why do you think people are saying "sack him"? JUST because it was a headbutt? t8yman
He was sent to the stands so I dunno why you put about a player would be carded for it. Again I'm not defending Pardew and agree it was stupid of him and he should and will be in big trouble for it. I'm just stating that everybody is getting carried away with it. WS_Jack_III
yeah but you were defending Pardew, you said he was "pushed for no reason" which isnt true, and you said people are over-reacting. Those two standpoints sound like someone defending Pardew to me. I dont believe he should resign, but I do believe that managers (especially a manager who is winning the game comfortably, and can't use the "frustration" excuse) should be a little bit more grown up about these kind of things than players, who yes- shouldnt do it, but do. Managers simply dont do that, Until now it seems. And he will be in the shit for it. Edited March 1, 2014 by III

zahidf
I think newscastle could (justifiably) use this as a reason to sack pardew. To top 4: bit worried about arsenal missing out for top 4 now!
DomDom1984
Arsenal aren't going to miss out on top 4. Not sure why anyone would be worried about it. Worth keeping an eye on Liverpool though.
