Wooderson
Not when you compare him to Giggs, Scholes, Beckham etc. Not in the same stratosphere. And it only took RVP half of his first season to become more loved than Rooney by Utd fans. Pricking about and acting the maggot with contracts and money is a guaranteed way to piss off fans. thetime
Ah yeh. Forgot that youre the club that slags off Scousers with a Scouser leading the line for you in the same match. . Edited August 14, 2013 by thetime
strummer77
It's not the end of this one. If Liverpool fans are getting giddy over this, they should be reminded of what Suarezclaimed was 'in his contract' A) A guarantee of Champions League Football A Release Clause in his contract if someone matches a transfer bid of £40m You just know that for Suarez to sign this new deal he's at least doubled his money, got a contract with the two things he believed were in his contract aswell. Agents aren't soft, bet he's laughing at home right now thinking, we've just earned a ton of money, and now next year if Liverpool don't make the CL, we can leave without all this Hassle. The Rooney case though, same as when he was at Everton... Why would he want to leave United? Cause his agent wants one final payday. strummer77
I am serious chief yes. Rooney (and to a lesser extent Gerrard if I'm totally honest) have both shown similar itchy feet... yet both are still lauded by the fans. pink_triangle
I get what you mean but to be fair, Gerrard isn't really an example of disloyalty/itchy feet. He asked to leave for less than a day in 15 years- during which time most of the best clubs in the world wanted him. Not many like him. Benj
Laughing loads at the RS today, they must be dizzy with all they're U-turnign about! Luis Suarez is truly ace, wonder who he'll be playing for come the end of Jan?

The Nal
What was the reason the Chelsea move didn't come of for gerrard? If I remember right he wanted to join them. Edited August 14, 2013 by The Nal
thetime
Rumours of Utd in for Ozil now. Another one thats not going to happen. Although Id be jumping with joy if it did.
Bobs
Think that's wishful thinking on your part there. By all accounts the contract talk is a surprise to the club. We will probably offer him a better contract (he is 'underpaid' in market value), but I think that any clauses will be clarified but still in line with what we want- only abroad etc. I don't think anyone is giddy, just relieved (if true). We were running out of time to get anyone in and if he is genuinely going to stay without throwing a strop, he is a huge asset until he next gets banned. Also I think Rooney wanted to leave Everton as they were rubbish and United were pretty good. That was the main reason to be fair. Similar reason to Suarez wanting Real this year. pink_triangle
Now that's a player I would like at united, much better than the modric. Like you said no chance. Loving the fact everyone is writing utd of before the season starts.

strummer77
As an Everton fan, i try to put my most unbiased opinion across, and it just seems logical. Bang in 30 goals this season and then have a brilliant world cup (Should Uruguay actually qualify), then this fiasco would happen again no doubt. I think Liverpool for their benefit would try and include one, just higher than £40m, and Suarez, well as one of the better players in the game today, he'll demand CL football, and if Liverpool aren't even qualifying for it, like this year for instance, then, I can see him asking to leave. His agent Drumming up the release clause and Liverpool getting a princely sum!
The Nal
Some fans didn't warm to him as much in the immediate aftermath but he has won everyone back since. Rooney could have won everyone back to be fair if he had got down and worked hard

eFestivals
If I remember right he wanted to join them.If I remember rightly, Rafa was staying quiet about a new contract for him when he only had a year left - leaving Gerrard under the impression he wasn't particularly wanted. It was certainly the case that almost as soon as Rafa said he wanted Gerrard to stay he said he'd stay. strangetown
LFC fans arent giddy at this in the slightest. If anything it was Arsenal fans that were w*nking themselves into a collective coma over the transfer. John Cross for example. We're a fanbase that is well wise to the PR spin at this stage. Ive no doubt theres more to this story... but the frothy ooze that Arsenal fans were working themselves up was kinda unpleasant.

Wooderson
Have to disagree with that one. Talking to plenty of other supporters and a lot had the same opinion as I did. Didn't want our club associated with Suarez due to his past. Great player but a twat of a bloke. Don't see how bidding a quid over the perceived trigger point in the contract is disrespectful. We made 2 bids-they were turned down-end of really. An absolute balls up from Arsenal is listening to the agents who obviously told them what they thought was in the contract and what to bid. Gazidis and Wenger are so far behind every other top club when it comes to doing transfer business it has become a standing joke.
Wooderson
What is clear is that we're all still obsessed with Suarez Liverpool on here.
