Using the Bale money as guide of player worth back then he was worth a hell of a lot more than £40mil. No one would take a risk due to the biting incident but in football terms he was worth as much as Bale.

The thing is Madrid needed a player with bales attributes more than one with Suarez, that pushed up what they would pay for bale. Of course its not just down to footballing talent, bale is far more marketable.

He was still not worth 2 X Luis Suarez.

As for Wenger. Arsenal needed to buy a striker last summer. He took bad advice/Got bad information. He showed his interest in Suarez. Tried to be cheeky. Failed. And then ran away. He knew he would have to pay more, but did not have the balls to do so.

This can be said about him as this happened. No other manager showed interest so it cant be said about them necessarily

Wenger should have rolled the dice but he kept his money (as he nearly always does)

2 summers in a row he acted the twat in the transfer window IMO

It's a daft argument, nobody was willing to pay the required price for suarez. Madrid were willing to with bale and united if the rumours were true.

I would be surprised if clubs tried to sign suarez even now, he seems to suit the Liverpool brand better.

It depends who is looking for a top forward. There are probably only a handful of clubs outside England who could afford him and I'm not sure any will be looking to invest heavily on a forward.

I am thinking that real Madrid would see suarez a player that could tarnish the Madrid brand. They seem to be a club that behavior is very important and perhaps why Jose didn't last that long.
