I agree, however Spurs have had a LOT of investment, while Arsenal have stalled on everything. The gap between them in the final league table was tiny, so it's hard to say after a small gap that Spurs investing + Arsenal not probably wouldn't lead to them outdoing Arsenal.

Also, while the core of Arsenal's squad is still there, they've shipped out a load of squad players who were serving as backup. If they get injuries and suspensions, it's unknown youth coming in.

Still, if they sign 1 top player, or a few decent ones, I think habit will get them that top 4 place.

A lot of investment but also at risk of losing one of the best players in the world. I actually think it could end up benefiting them by spreading the influence around, however they need to replace his goals and time will tell if those brought in can achieve that. .!

Spurs first XI is now the 3rd best in the league.

yep, it's pretty impressive .... for the next few days till Bale's gone, anyhow. :P

Actually, it's a far better team without Bale and with those new players.

But it's also Spurs. So while they have the potential for greatness on paper, I'm far from sure that much will come of it. After all, this is the club who have let Arsenal stroll past them at the end of the last couple of seasons, when Spurs undoubtedly had the better squad of players.

it's a good job you don't win championships on paper.

for Man Utd, certainly. :P

After all, there's not many years that anyone (without blinkers) would look at their squad and think it the best in the league.

I don't mean that as any insult, because they HAVE been the best in the league. The table doesn't lie (much :P).

The way that fergie wrung every last morsel out of (comparatively) average players was mightily impressive. It's gonna be interesting to see if Moyes can do the same (tho out of any manager, I'd put my money on him).

And apart from one year they didn't finish top 4 in any of those seasons either! I agree Levy has played it well and in theory it should result in spurs getting stronger, but especially when bringing players from elsewhere theory and practice are sometimes different things. I personally think people are underestimating both Man Utd and Arsenal and recent years suggest to me that both teams have a habit of proving the critics wrong come the end of the season.
