Agreed, at times he has looked like he was doing the running for 3 people this season. Im still not convinced that you can produce a consistently solid side with Gerrard, Coutinhio, Suarez and Sturridge all in the starting line up.

I wonder if the goal difference worked against Liverpool today. While 9 is a huge amount to make up, I think 3-0 up with plenty of time on the clock it may have been in the back of their minds that if they could get 5 or 6 they could pressurize city, where as if they had gone into the game an extra 4 or 5 back they wouldn't have even considered the option and focused just on seeing the win out.

Rodgers has got to take some heat for last few weeks performances. His teams have performed with a nativity that is really something to behold. And bringing on VFM when it was going to all hell at 3-2. Super.

Rodgers certainly has shown some tactical flaws recently but I think he can be somewhat forgiven considering what he has achieved overall with the progression of his squad and the fact you hope he learns some good lessons that will stand him in the future. The prospect of the title most likely allowed for some naïveté but the squad strength is ultimately the biggest factor

With the exception of the slip, what has cost Liverpool the title has been evident all season and it was a matter of time before it showed up again and meant something that would hurt Liverpool Some of the wins they got were very close and the amount of leakage at the back they experienced would usually punish you a lot more over a season

A good performance at home against Newcastle will give the club and fans a lot to be proud of this season on reflection. They will effectively loose the title on the last day. They must use that experience going forward

I wonder how long it will take SG to get over this but. Hopefully it's not a mortal wound. The WC may be a welcome distraction from his nightmares

I agree, but it's also the case that they'd already been playing above themselves, or at least above the expectations others had of them.

A great season with success well above the targets is nowt to get upset about, even if it's disappointing to get so close and miss out.

If at the start of the season you had offered liverpool the chance to be champions if they could win their last game and city lose one (or draw both) of their last games they would have bitten your hand off. As someone who has seen my team coming 92nd in the league 1 season and beat the league champions the next, I know in a one off game anything is possible.

While city should win the league, they have looked a bit nervous at times and all you need is a bit of bad luck or a dodgy referee who knows what could happen. In some ways needing 4 points instead of 6 may give city more to think about, if drawing with villa with 10 minutes to go, do you take the draw or gamble a bit more for a win?

LFC miss out on the title with leading scorer and dual player of the year sobbing uncontrollably on the pitch. Guess it shows how fast moving the game is nowadays. The foundation is there to build on if Rodgers has the cop on to do so. Does he though? Methinks Suarez's tears were out of personal disappointment rather than being gutted for the team in general. I'm one of those LFC fans that wouldnt begrudge him a move to Madrid. Also I'd quite like to see how Rodgers will cope without (basically) Maradona in his team next season.

To be fair its not just Johnson. Majority of senior player's heads have been gone for the past 3 weeks or so. Something admirable in the cool collected way Citeh have gone about their business last few weeks. No panic, nothing irrational. They're impressive champions.

LFC have an enormous summer ahead. Think they'll be fighting to hold onto Suarez once more whilst fending off Chelsea and Spurs as per usual along with Utd for signings.

yeah lol! Still buzzing after last night :D

It was nothing to do with players losing their heads etc... You was simply pushing to hard to reduce the goal difference. You thought you was Roy of the Rovers... and instead you got suckered punched three time :D

Neville and Carragher where pointing out this sucker punch before the game and you walked right into it :D

Loved it :)

Its difficult to blame Johnson, everyone knows he has his strengths and weaknesses. Is it realistic for a club to play Gerrard, Coutinio, Suarez, Sturridge and attacking full backs? Surely someone has to help the centre backs.
