Benj
more realistically tho, it'll probably just be the six extra games.
pink_triangle
Get used to it Benj. We go again next season. Only City have (slightly) better points per game ave better than us since end of '12.
Wooderson
I hope liverpool have a decent season providing nobody uses the term "we go again!" Hansen called the season a failiure on MOTD. I think this is a little unfair considering liverpool needed to finish w13 d1 l0 to win the title, you only have to look to spain to see how closing out a season is far from easy. An opportunity lost, but its far from a failiure. I think next season will be interesting and a lot will depend on the transfer window, liverpool have got away with 2 poor transfer windows, Im not certain they will get away with a 3rd. I think theres a danger that liverpool may focus too much on the defence and find out that the way the team is set up, it just means different defenders are making the same mistakes. The likes of Agger and Skrtel have both been perfectly adequate in the past and Im not convinced they have turned into bad defenders overnight. pink_triangle
For anyone who is interested my team of the season, at the end of the season when it should be decided! Not particularly balanced, but the players who have stood out for me. GK Begovic Defence - Zabaletta, Baines, Terry, Kompany Midfield - Henderson, Ramsey, Toure, Silva, Hazard Striker - Suarez Anyone see MOTD goal of the season, to me Wilshire is the clear standout of the shortlist. Also honourable mention for Stoke, a lot laughed when Hughes got the job, however i think thats stokes best ever premiership finish and i think he also got Fulhams. pink_triangle
Leaving Gerrard out (13 assists is top in the division) is madness.

TheGayTent
I see Cole has announced his retirement from international football. Hate it when players do this, but it seems the norm these days. That said, he has served his country with distinction.

TheGayTent
Think Begovic was better last season than he has been this. I'd have gone with Lloris, who hopefully will leave Tottenham this summer
thetime
Fantastic player. I suppose he reckons hes not going to get ahead of Baines or Shaw no for the foreseeable. Makes sense.
pink_triangle
Baines has had one of his least effectual seasons in a while, although has been fine defensively.I guess
eFestivals
If LFC go out after the first round I won't be cheesed off. League is the only priority again next season.yup, I agree. If Liverpool sit still thinking 'job done' then they'll soon be out of the top 4.I see there's reports of a firm bid for Lalana. Certainly a very decent player, tho I'm not sure if they shouldn't be aiming higher.i can see why they want him, as they need to better join up the midfield and attack, but all the same it's hard to see how he fits into the squad without a lot of un-doing of how they've played for the last four months. mrtourette
Very surpised about Cole. I've never understood about 'looking to the future' at major tournaments if the player in question isn't going to play, would make more sense to me to have someone of Cole's gravitas, experience and talent still around and then blood Shaw during the next two years in the Euro qualifiers. I mean, does it really matter if Shaw turns up in Moscow in four years time without having the experience of sitting on the bench for three games in Brazil? thetime
I think he strengthens the side - but like you I don't know exactly where he "fits". Could be a huge waste of money for what might amount to a luxury player.
eFestivals
Who is signing off on the 27 million Shaw deal? Fergie?seems an awful lot for a kid, when kids often don't get any better.Having said that, he's very good, and probably looks like having more potential than other youngsters. But it still seems a lot.
eFestivals
What do think Liverpool need to take that extra step?firstly: a defence.
eFestivals
I have heard a lot about Man Utd and Liverpool being linked with these young English players. I wonder if Man City could end up throwing their hat into the ring.it seems to be the case that Shaw wants to go to Utd and Lalana wants to go to Liverpool - I'm not sure the interest of other clubs will change things. In both cases I can see why those players would choose those clubs: they actually stand a very decent chance of being first-choicers. That wouldn't be the case at City or Chelsea.
