How can someone else prove they can do a better job for the country if you keep playing the guy who has the shirt? If a player gets a shirt and then plays shit for Man U for a season, then based on that they have to accept that they will potentially loose their shirt unless all English players in the same position were playing shit that season also

I though Frank Boer was in the frame for Spurs?

Sam should be sacked. Southampton have had a very good season relatively, i doubt they would change managers?

the fav is matey at Soton.

Soton have changed the upper management in the last few months, and the guy who appointed manager isn't there any more. He's said for a while he'll review his position in the summer.

If Soton only lose one player this summer maybe he'll stay, but if both Lalana & Shaw are off then I reckon he will be too. You can't go forwards if you can't keep the success you achieve.

The argument goes that a player in form for his club would oust the player in the international team when the player playing for the international team goes through a patch of bad form for his country (as opposed to his club).

It's a view Alf Ramsey subscribed to generally speaking. I think there's some merit in it.

May be a small amount but its not how I would approach it because of the very few international games played in a year. What a guy does week in week out is something I would would rely on more but that's just how I see it.

I would not be starting Danny Welbeck just because he did OK for England a while ago.

In practice it has to be a combination doesn't it. There isn't a simple answer, if only because of injury situations.

Would you drop a striker who had scored 3 hat-tricks in 3 games for his country but only 1 in 10 for his club, for a striker that had score 10 in 10 for his club?

Looks like his not going today:

A logical choice but doesn't bode well for next season I think, no doubt Gold and Sulivan will not get who ever they are looking for and we will stuck with a mangager who knows his not wanted by the board or the fans.

On managers, it seems Pardew is safe. While I feel he's culpable for a lot of our problems (particularly the second half of both last season and this), I don't think we'd be able to attract a better manager. Joke obviously fucked us over a bit with only signing strikers on loan and selling our best player and given he's taken the fall I'm not sure we should get rid of another as well.

I don't really think Pardew's done enough to warrant the chance to rebuild, but I don't think there's another manager to bring in.
