pink_triangle
I'm aware that Arsenal fans are supposed to have hijacked the vote, but I'm struggling to think of who there is who might surpass him as the best.
TheGayTent
I know Lloris was already at Spurs by that time. But the point is there was nothing stopping Liverpool attracting Lloris when Tottenham did the year before - it wouldn't be the first Tottenham target that ended up at Anfield after choosing Liverpool over Tottenham. He was hardly a risk signing. He'd already been a star in France, had played for the national side at every level and had good Champions League experience with Lyon - including playing well against Liverpool. Meanwhile Mignolet had had one and a bit ok seasons for Sunderland with no European experience? Yet cost more than Lloris just 12 months later than Lloris' move to England? Let's be honest, Reina should have been replaced at least 12 months before he was. Edited May 29, 2014 by TheGayTent

thetime
Ricky Lambert to Liverpool? Would be a good signing, better than aspas coming in for injuries/suspensions.
luckysalt
£9m by all accounts, theres a rumour going round they're paying more for Lambert so they pay less for Lallana, so Southampton avoid losing more money through the sell on clause. Shady if true.
pink_triangle
I respect Lambert for making the most out of his career, I think however he will be out of his depth at Liverpool.
lost
Also anniversary of Heysel today. Just read this excellent article on how it is remembered. http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2013/05/what-about-justice-for-heysel/

TheGayTent
Lambert signing I think is a good one. Cheap wages (comparatively) and offers something completely different off the bench if required. Will also be more than happy with being a squad player. Think interest in Lallana is nuts though.

strummer77
Superb article that as you say. Credit to the author and one of the first times I've read in a British article that the Liverpool fans charged 3 times. The story at the time was the Liverpool fans only charged once and it was in retaliation to Italian thugs. Its a bit different to Liverpool's official site today: http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/163716-29-years-on-heysel-remembered Edited May 29, 2014 by strummer77

A very intelligent player. I can see him and Suarez combining much better than Suarez and Sturridge - Sturridge is a bit one-dimensional.It's a weird one tho. There's not a lot of mileage left in him ... tho for Rickie it's probably a dream come true.

eFestivals
It's a very good signing.oh it is - but it's also a very limited lifetime signing. Lambert is getting on.I'm mildly surprised by it, because getting a longer-term prospect would be better .... but there's the suggestion that it's mostly about making the Lallana thing happen, and within that context it makes a lot of sense. It *IS* a very good signing, but it's also short-term.
pink_triangle
It's a very good signing. Proven premier league goal scorer who won't be moaning to much being on the bench. Will take some of the strain of the front 2 with the champions league, fatigue because of the world cup etc etc.

eFestivals
I would have thought another striker wouldn't be first on Liverpool's list. Still, not a bad price for a good player.they've got no backup beyond S&S, and the chances of Suarez going another season without injury is probably pretty slim by the laws of averages. They probably need a striker more than an attacking midfielder.

eFestivals
Na. If that's the case it makes it a worse deal not a better one.Me saying "makes a lot of sense" was me taking the club's view. If they want Lallana and have to sign Lambert to get him, it's a pretty decent bit of leverage and not a waste.
