I don't like Platini's sinbin idea. I get the principle behind it but yellow cards are dished out too easily for playing with 10-men for several minutes to be an appropriate punishment. It'd also vastly increase the desperate appealing by opposition players for the ref to book for tackles.

Football's a different game from rugby, and in the modern game that difference in terms of space for 10 minutes will make a huge change. In a low-scoring sport you don't want that much of a shift IMO. Introducing sinbins would require revamping the rules about what constitutes a yellow card.

4 points max for England, Uruguay and Costa Rica will both be far more used to that climate, while Italy will dictate possession comfortably. Uruguay may be vulnerable defensively, but they're ridiculously good going forward.

4 really tasty groups though, A, D, G and H. B and C could be interesting, although E looks a dead bore and I can't see Bosnia or Iran causing Argentina problems.

Well I normally go into World Cups with blind optimism ...tbh right now I can't see England making it out of the group stages tbh, even Costa Rica are going to cause us problems in Brazil.

France got got group E as well!! Would have been a great group to get!

Look at it this way, Italy and Uruguay aren't as big write-offs as games against Spain, Brazil, Germany, etc.

So should we manage it, if we take ourselves seriously then we really should, then the second round game would be pretty nice too. Quarter Finals? Yikes.

Not saying we will beat them... but I wouldn't be gob smacked if we did.... It should be a close game.
