I'll tell you what I know on the Rage situation. They were in talks a few months ago to headline July festivals in Europe, whether that included either June or August I don't know, but talks seemingly ended and I didn't hear anything else from that rumour. From what I gather, they are very likely to be doing festivals in North America/ Canada next Summer.

If they do play Euro fests it will probably be the late one's, so Reading/ Leeds would be best bet, but they probably won't.

It's far too late in the day for Download to be in talks with them, when most of Europe are ready to announce their plans, Download will struggle to get other fests on board for them, so could be a very costly venture.

They won't figure at R+L if they're doing LA Rising in August. Lollapalooza USA is probably a safe bet too for August.

Last time, LA Rising was the end of July. There's loads of festivals popping up in America that they could end up playing at. Either way, I don't expect them at Euro fests next Summer.

You may joke about Def Leppard, but they are doing festivals next Summer. Can't see Download booking them again though, but it would be very funny if they did.

In all fairness, the whole event is a fcukin good craic., whoever headlines.

I get three days a year of no car, no work in the morning, no wife, no kids, no rules, just drinking and arsing about from the time I regain consciousness to the time I collapse with some good like-minded company and some tidy background music.

I always treat Download as more of a party than concert, and I’m never disappointed.

Coppings the uk promoter for Haim through his work with livenation, it's his job to promote them. I think they would be alright at Dl it's just a shame they are so big they would take up a decent sized slot, so won't be booked because it's too much of a risk.

Having not gone in 2010, i'd be quite happy with Aerosmith, one of the few bands left to tick off my list.. Avenged I saw in 2011 & I just can't see the hype about them

Yeah Bowling For Soup just said they wouldn't tour the UK anymore, no surprise they'd still do festivals.

A lot of bands find it easy to come over from US do the Euro fests then piss off back, guess they're now one of them.

AC is extracting the urine slightly this year with the distinct lack of announcement. If he's booked 2 announce them, people would be a lot happier knowing something as opposed to knowing nothing and speculating.

To be fair, no other festivals have announced anything. He's not really taking the piss, we're just all expecting early announcements after last year.

Actually quite a few festivals have announced bands. Bloodstock, Sweden Rock, Hellfest, Wacken and a lot more. I've heard Rock am Ring are just about ready to announce and know that Nova Rock, Graspop and a few others have a headliner that played Download this year, so won't be playing there again.

How do you know those who haven't announced yet are linked to Download's headliners, they could be waiting for a different festival to announce.

Let's be honest here, Download's 3rd headliner pulled out, it's now October and their paddling up shit creek trying to book someone.

If they are struggling for a 3rd headliner & it's not just a case of a band wanting to announce a few Euro fests at once then I can't see 2014 being a big year.

2011 had a low attendance (I remember reading 75k somewhere?) & that was with the return of SOAD & Linkin Park, A7X, Alter Bridge,BFMV, Disturbed & Rob Zombie on the bill too. Aerosmith, A7X & A.N Other band sounds far less impressive imo.
