Not sure how true it is, seems to be one guy saying it. I haven't heard a single thing regarding Linkin Park and other festivals, so I wonder whether Download have booked them on a big exclusive. Last I heard they were in talks with Biffy, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Last I heard, STP were extremely likely for Sonisphere, so we shall see, there doesn't seem to be any real rumour for them at Download, just festival maths by the looks of things.

I suppose you guys are right, perhaps Download have booked them on a similar deal to what Slipknot/ Stone Sour were last year. Be interesting to see where this Download lineup is heading though. This is the way I see it at the moment based on those rumours.

Don't see Motley vs Avenged or Stone Temple Pilots under Aerosmith again... Don't see Avenged closing weekend either... If those bands then:

Looks pretty poor if it's those bands anywayz. Looking unlikely for me this year. Saw Alter Bridge on their arena tour and they were great but gives me one less reason to go to download when I don't like STP or Motley Crue and can take or leave the headliners.

Edit: Plus as far as Avenged so I saw them in 2011 waiting for SOAD and they were great but that was my time to see them as I loved the self titled album and enjoyed Nightmare. Dislike the new album and they played pretty much the exact set I wanted in 2011... won't this time. LP although I've not seen a full set I saw bits of their 07 and 2011 sets and that was again prob the best times for to see them although I would very much enjoy seeing them. Aerosmith I would only want to hear a couple songs of them and saw a few of them after Stone Sour in 2010 so they don't bother me.

Download don't normally have the same headliners play the same days, the only day LP haven't played before is Friday, and out of the 3, A7X have the better stage show so will undoubtedly close the festival.

Would argue LP have the better stage show after seeing both... and Def Leppard headlined a Sunday one year so not always about stage show on last day... Plus Linkin Park, Iron Maiden and Metallica have all done the same day twice... I know that isn't common place and the first two were when Download was two days but I just don't see Avenged closing the weekend on their first headline spot. Could see lots of people leaving if they did the last day it generally seems first time headliners get a smaller crowd and understandably so they aren't as established.

Surely they are more likely to go: Linkin Park, A7X and Aerosmith?

LP have done Sunday night more recent that Areosmith have and if it shits down for LP again Download will looking bloody silly if loads just decide to leave upon that. I can at least a decent number sticking around for Aerosmith on the last night, not for A7X though, a new header in them to close? Doubt it.

Reading had Biffy close but they are bigger and had sold out a bigger UK tour earlier in that year, plus it's a two site fest so they've gotta play two days. Just trying to use that as the new header comparison.
