Leeds at Temple Newsham

Was reminiscing with some friends re Leeds at Temple Newsham.

To anyone that went, do you remember having to leave the site by climbing over barbed wire fences? Or walking through a wood.

I know in 2000, my legs got cut up on the fences and 2001 I definitely remember a wood

I was too young to go in the Temple Newsam days (my first was 2005) but I live in Leeds and go to Temple Newsam fairly often.

Think I know where those woods are, are they right of where the field where the Main Stage was? And you walk uphill when passing through them?

It'd be quite interesting if the festival was still there. The field where the Main Stage was seems a bit too small to hold the Main Stage in it's current size.

Also think the line-ups seemed better back then.

YES!

I actually preferred it when it was held at Temple Newsam, it was loads better.

I remember having to walk over a little bridge from the arena to the campsite, and there was always something wrong with it. I can't remember if it was overflowing or just crumbling down, but there were always people queuing for ages at that bit. We were camped right up by the motorway (near where the riots were in '02) so it took about 40 minutes to get back! It was conveniently close to Tesco though, so it wasn't all bad.

There were two lots of woods IIRC. One that you had to walk through when you came in and then one up by where the campsite was.

Do you remember any barbed wire fences? Im sure that can't have been the real way out but there were thousands of people climbing over them after the headline act.
