Nick Cave

Midnight Man

Recommended Posts

Just a part time listener of Nick Cave but went along to Leeds on the basis of hearing he puts on a show and clips I've seen him live.. Been regularly to gigs and festivals for 33 years now and have to say last night was in the top 10 performances I've seen.. Astonishing stuff. I was up in the gods but the sound just filled the arena. Incredible musicianship from the band and Nick Cave just owned the stage and the audience. Seriously contemplating getting Birmingham tickets as they have standing ones left!!

Anyone else going to O2 next Friday? I hate o2, feels like the food hall in a shopping centre but just had to see him

Yeah I'm going, really looking forward to it. Love the new album. Saw him on the carnage tour in Ipswich so looking forward to the full bad seeds experience.

What time were Bc,Nr on please? Coming straight from work and don’t want to miss them.

They have been overlooked with all the justified praise for Nick Cave. I only saw 30 minutes of their set but they were excellent as well.

Come on, no-one can surely have polished that absolute turd of a verse in their own minds.

I'm genuinely not sure if you mean Wild God or Final Rescue Attempt.  I'm not that into either of them, I zoned out of both.  Wild God isn't exactly Ashes to Ashes when it comes to referencing an earlier big song 🙂

Was at the Glasgow Hydro last night, I think I preferred the setlist from 2017.  There was of course still plenty to enjoy.  I saw the Carnage theatre tour and I really like what they're now doing with White Elephant.  For example.

Been fantastic the last two times I’ve seen them at Green Man, new style and set up really makes them stand out now their older sound is very common at the moment. I cannot wait for them to properly record some of it.

I didn't like BCNR at all in their previous carnation, much better now, still not really my thing but I don't run off with my fingers in my ears!

Wild God.

Final Rescue is great throughout...

Just home from Manchester. Only cried 4 times which I consider a win. Wonderful show although like @Johndenis I preferred the 2017 set list.  Jubilee Street gets better every time.

Warren was on top form.

Finally got myself a Bad Seed tee.

What do I have to do to see Ship Song live?

What an incredible gig that was last night at the Arena in MCR.

I honestly think that would convert any non Cave fan, the Bad Seeds are so tight live. The sound was amazing and for a 67 year old man Cave never stopped for 2.5 hours.

Highly recommend if anyone can get a ticket for the rest of the tour.

Personally, think he would be an amazing headliner albeit I can understand hesitancy from alot of folk.

I will fourth the view about a great performance by Nick and the gang. It was an evangelical experience. However as much as I love him methinks it wouldn’t go down too well as a headliner at the farm - i am not sure if you heard some of the cries from the crowd - “play some rock and roll……!”. These are the folks who want to hear Red Right Hand and similar for the whole gig. I suspect that is what the pyramid mob would like. Sadly. Love him on the Other tho. Probably a stretch for WH but would be even better (albeit i suspect over crowded……). Top gig.

I know he's not generally keen to switch up his sets massively while on tour, but even by his standards these setlists are remarkably consistent. Been the same 21/22 songs since 6th October. Would be nice to have a little variation, but won't stop me going Saturday

Didn’t do Murder Ballads in full so 0/10.

An incredible performance, as someone who used to only really to listen to Boatsmen’s Call and Murder Ballads, I thought they were incredible. It made me enjoy Wild God a lot more, especially  Long Dark Night.

Not sure if this is a controversial take but I did not enjoy the Cinnamon Horses to Joy stretch. He won me back with Mercy Seat though and the rest of the show was fab.
