russycarps
Yeah red right hand in particular was bloody ace for sure, not often we say that! Edited November 3, 2013 by russycarps
Zoo Music Girl
Is that a 'Fucking Kylie' in a bad way?I really thought it was inspired, camera phones aside. I thought he sounded miffed about the short gig too - bit weird that. I convinced myself there'd be no FHHTE as a result. But then when it came... russycarps
eternity was the perfect song to follow Kylie for sure . Our Jack the ripper. Wonder if she watched the whole gig from the side? I don't actually mind Kylie, she shagged my beloved inxs dude so she must have something going for her.....Nick well fancies her Edited November 4, 2013 by russycarps
dentalplan
Was it said earlier in the thread that they often tour twice for an album? Chose Pumpkins at the festival and circumstances kept me from going to any tour dates, but man I want to see them now.
jimmyt
I absolutely love Jubilee Street (fucking insane tonight) but it pales for me next to FHTE. But songs from both ends of a career being so good! Amazing. So jimmyt and justiceforcedave met up then? I think you may have broken he first rule of Nick Cave Club. How dare you!!! We never once spoke about Nick Cave club, which is the first and second rule.

Every song was though, might have been my amazing vantage pint (nowhere near as close as I'd have liked, mind) but so good. Nick and Kylie together were smouldering. I'd be in that threesome like a shot. Dentalplan, probably me that said that but I stand by it. Reckon they drag tours out for ages, esp if you can make it to London. To put that in perspecitve, my first Cave gig was AB time and I've seen them probably 15 times or so. Edit: an abomination of typos! Zoo Music Girl
I think I understand that, fifteen times since around Abbatoir Blues? That's reassuring, thanks. Exactly! Sorry, was typing and walking while drunk But yeah, three albums and I've seen them tons. I reckon a cheeky tour next year is not out of the question. Justiceforcedave
How dare you!!! We never once spoke about Nick Cave club, which is the first and second rule. This is true, lips were sealed! Turns out JimmyT is a thoroughly nice bloke (and knows lots of my old Brighton haunts to boot!)
Zoo Music Girl
I'm a bit jealous in a weird way! Would kind of like to meet all you Nick Cave freaks Dave, we must have been in the same pub at the same time earlier. And I'm 99% sure I spied Russy at Hammersmith. Osama Jim Laden
I stink of envy at the moment (and probably other sins too).. Guess I'll have to wait for the cd/DVD.. Great setlist.. Did that twat from Glastonbury burgle her way in again? Edited November 4, 2013 by Osama Jim Laden
Zoo Music Girl
In terms of setlist alone, there were no real surprises other than Kylie. And it was short, which is annoying for £40 (although, as my friend who wasn't at Hammersmith pointed out, it wasn't *that* short, it's probably just that we were expecting 2 hours and got 1.30). Have to say though that the Bad Seeds are better in a smaller space. I was closer at Hammersmith but I felt closer last night - had a perfect view. Except for when some c**t got on a guy's shoulders but we soon got her back down again. Apart from her the crowd were great. As jimmyt said, there for the music and respectful. Really warm reverent atmosphere. Didn't see the Glastonbury girl, thank god, I suspect she got in a bit late to get anywhere near Nick. Besides, he only had eyes for Kylie. Just reading some of these posts back - Tim Minchin was at the gig??
jimmyt
Yup, Minchin was there wearing a t-shirt that said Keith on the back. He's so wacky.
Zoo Music Girl
I fucking love Tim Minchin! Gutted I didn't spot him. Of course he's a Cave fan - man has taste I took a couple of naughty photos which I would like to post. No idea how though - any ideas? None of Kylie though, boys, so don't get too excited. We were to the right of the stage, I'd say about 7 people from the front. Didn't mean to insult your friend if so.
russycarps
Yep they will tour this album again I'm sure of it. They are a band who loves the £££... I saw that person get up on shoulders in a gig like that. Incredible scenes. They did get down pretty swiftly I must say, I assume after harsh words were exchanged. It was a good gig but I guess I just expected more than what we got. Kylie minogue doe not justify a gig to have it's length cut by a quarter in my mind. I didnt see much chemistry between them really, I thought nick looked pretty awkward to be honest (much like in the original video...), he didnt know where to put his hands. And someone needed to tell her she's not at the smash hits poll winners party when she held the microphone out to the audience to sing a line... Plus I have to say the arrangement of watching alice was a bit of a let down. He crooned it as just a straight ballad, which I felt meant the song lost all its menace and sinister tone. I didnt mind the "full band version" of into my arms though. meh it was a great gig of course but I guess we just hyped it up too much on here (surprise surprise!). That was a festival set list, not a fans setlist.
Zoo Music Girl
Yeah that's a fair assessment. We did hype it up a bit! But I still think it was my favourite. The intimacy and sound was great. Couldn't disagree more about Nick and Kylie!
Zoo Music Girl
I know what you mean about Watching Alice too. Shame when you were looking forward to it so much. On this tour it's been all about the big noisy violent numbers for me rather than the ballads. Well those and Higgs Boson Blues.
Zoo Music Girl
Tupelo was brilliant last night too.

Dont get me wrong about last night, I loved it, amazing gig. Best version of red right hand I've ever seen I'd say (not normally a favourite of ours) plus tupelo was ace too. It was ALL ace! I'm just being picky I assume the kylie bit will be in the film? if so they'll have to carefully edit in crowd footage from one of the other songs to get rid of all the phones! The rest of the gig was near enough phone free (apart from the odd photo which is fine) I think nick dropped a bollock by saying it was going to be a shortened gig early on. He made it sound like it was out of his hands, but it cant have been down to curfew reasons surely? I was sure we wouldnt get eternity when it wasnt in it's normal spot..thank god it wasnt dropped. Really liked the venue too, you can see why they picked that place for the filming. I think the last band I saw there was babyshambles! For shame

For shame Yeah, you are a right picky bugger I know what you mean though. Just for me that venue was perfect for them and the crowd was good, the songs sounded great, it all fell into place. If I'd seen the setlist on paper I might not have minded missing it but in reality it was something pretty special. He shouldn't have said that because it upset me early on! Maybe if he hadn't said anything we might not have noticed so much. I know, I really thought FHTE was a goner! Thank god it wasn't. The Mercy Seat was awesome too and I loved that Stagger Lee. Less pantomime, just a great performance. Kylie will definitely be in the film I'd say, but yeah less crowd shots for the reason you say. Can't believe I've now seen him do duets with both Kylie and PJ Harvey No Love Letter either - you must be delighted. Never been to that venue before but it's bloody great. Quite tempted for Goat now.
