dentalplan
I am but a mere youngling in the Nick Cave game, but surely Up Jumped the Devil is the coolest one to learn on the piano?

carlosj
and also; COR! can you make the extra tracks you get on the vinyl into mps3s and email them to us? Is that even possible? HELP! A mate is getting the vinyl, (do they also offer downloads too?) so I'll see what I can do. (...did you ever get those videos split for emailing we talked about in PMs, Stones/Nick Cave, or did they get on Youtube in the end?) Technical bit, - hook up a cable from the headphones socket on the turntable to the mic socket in the laptop/PC/Mac (probably need an adaptor to plug the cable into the headphone sockets - use an app like Audacity (free) to record the input, with high quality - play the tracks - tidy up the resultant MP3 tracks
carlosj
I am but a mere youngling in the Nick Cave game, but surely Up Jumped the Devil is the coolest one to learn on the piano? Were you the one heard requesting it on the KCRW album???
carlosj
See, I heard "技術位, - 鉤了電線從轉盤上的耳機插口在筆記本/ PC / Mac機的MIC插孔(可能需要一個適配器來將電源線插入耳機插孔 - 使用像Audacity的一個應用程序(免費)來記錄輸入,以高品質 - 播放曲目 - 整理所得的MP3曲目" Big tick up for this, but somehow I reached my quota already. OK, I'll see about my mate then.
dentalplan
Were you the one heard requesting it on the KCRW album??? Nah, 'fraid not. Wish I could be in California though! Great song though, the song that got me into Nick Cave actually - heard it on a video game.

Zoo Music Girl
It's absolutely glorious Brings back so many memories from the gigs, particularly with the choice of slow numbers. I love the versions of Higgs and Push The Sky Away, perhaps even more than on PTSA. And The Mercy Seat! Incredible. Mermaids too is just sublime. His voice sounds just incredible throughout. This album is going to get me through the winter. What are the two extra vinyl tracks then? Anyone know? I'll move heaven and earth to get hold of them. God Is In The House and Into My Arms. There's one instance where Nick is taking requests and when someone says (I think) Jubilee Street he says 'okay let's do that' and a different song starts. I was aggrieved.

That's not too bad though as I have heard those songs live a lot. And I will get them! I don't think Jubilee Street would have worked stripped down anyway. It needs to be proper fucking noisy, Glastonbury-style. Someone requests Nick The Stripper! The cheek of it. Love it. Well worth looking up if you're not familiar with The Birthday Party. dentalplan
Thanks, that's just given me a kick up the arse to seek out some Birthday Party to listen to, which I've never got round to. I've just noticed that this thread started three weeks after this year's festival. What on Earth was going on before the fest?

Zoo Music Girl
Thanks, that's just given me a kick up the arse to seek out some Birthday Party to listen to, which I've never got round to. I've just noticed that this thread started three weeks after this year's festival. What on Earth was going on before the fest? Ooh do it! Start with the aptly named 'Hits' - it's as far as I've got but it's so brilliant. Keep meaning to get more. There were other Nick Cave threads before this one. At least two or three. Carlosj - I entirely agree! He has grown into his face. He was in many ways an ugly little fucker but that makes him all the more beautiful in my eyes. It makes sense in my head. Not seen the Higgs video yet. Must get involved. Edited December 5, 2013 by RebeccaD
