Yeah - Murder Ballads is one of his weakest albums, but I also agree that some of the more melodramatic, pantomimic elements of his work haven't aged that well. I much prefer him working in the relatively restrained register of something like The Good Son.

I haven't posted on this thread for quite a while (probably shortly after the 2013 festival), but just wondered if anyone thinks a Cave/Bad Seeds/Grinderman appearance is possible this year?

By the way, Nocturama was the first full Cave album I heard, and I still have a soft spot for it (apart from Rock of Gibraltar which is laughable), think my favourite is No More Shall We Part though.

He isn't. He was/is (can't remember if it was removed) rumoured for it on here. But it doesn't sound like he's going to be there. They're having a returning headliner to celebrate the anniversary, and eFests think it's Paolo Nutini.

Do you mean the RAH gig? I've been to these solo Cave shows before and he usually does quite a mix, spanning the back catalogue.

Never used the abbreviation OMG before but I've just heard We Came Among This Road for the first time, fairly new to Mr Cave having got in to him during the 2013 run up and am sinced hooked, can't believe he passed me by for so long
