Where to move to in London thats affordable?

Is Stoke Newington bad then? I don't think it's a cheap place to live these days.

I try to avoid it - last time I was in the area was summer 2010 and it was a horrible place then. Might have improved I guess. Seems doubtful though, given the economic conditions we've had in the intervening period?

I think stoke newington is overrun by the hoxton crowd overspill. I'm pretty sure its not affordable anymore.

Same goes for Tooting. I used to live there but got priced out and had to move east. It's now overrun by the balham overspill.

I also used to live in bethnal green, not a chance in hell I could afford there anymore. It's really expensive round there these days.

That Hoxton overspill are now the ones moving to Walthamstow, the locals are not happy. The house/flat prices have shot up around here recently. It's happening everywhere in London.

I'd imagine rent/houses prices in stratford will soon be out of reach too, what with the olympic village and the new shopping centre.

these are some cheaper area to live in London: Merton, Raynes Park, Tooting, Charlton, Bethnal Green, Bow, Stratford, Plaistow, Stoke Newington, East Clapton, Forest Gate, Leyton, Shepherd’s bush, Acton, Willesden.

(not Hoxton overspill i should add. more a finsbury park overspill. That's getting silly expensive now too). Walthamstow has everything you want while still being fairly affordable. Just got ourselves a newly refurbed two up two down terrace (garden etc), 5minutes walk from Walthamstow central tube. £1300 rent per month

That would be £1700+ in Finsbury park for the same thing.

We live very near to each other then, I'm just round the corner from the Ye Olde Rose and Crown. Haven't checked out The Bell yet. Heard good things about it though. I'm also really intrigued by the Victoria. Looks like an interesting place. Old man's pub by day, gay club at the weekend.
