Yeah, when I want to get into a band, I listen to them constantly, all of their albums, everything, my mates kind of listen to a couple of songs then they're like, "yeah they're cool" and I'm just "THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH" :(

I'm just going to start going to gigs alone from now on anyway, too much effort asking people if they're bothered or not, just for them to reply with "I'm not sure, lets wait a while" no -.-

Favourite albums of the year have been Wish to Scream, how that warranted a 4 and BE didn't get below 2 is an absolute shambles.

Other albums I've enjoyed:

Opposites - Biffy Clyro

Weight of Your Love - Editors, despite the assault its been taking.

Modern Vampires of the City - Vampire Weekend

Tape Deck Heat - Frank Turner

...Like Clockwork - QOTSA

Looking forward to:

Arctic Monkeys

Nine Inch Nails

White Lies

I normally don't listen to many albums before the price of CD drops to £5/6 but I seem to have streamed far more this year. Here's some thoughts:

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories - This has really been growing on me. It doesn't sound that much like earlier Daft Punk, but with every listen I enjoy it more. It's got a few crap tracks, but so has Homework. It's an album that needs time, especially considering the hype that there was going into it, but I feel it rewards that.

QOTSA - Like Clockwork - There are some absolute corkers on this album, and it has the variety that both the TCV album and Era Vulgaris were missing, but I find a few tracks grow tiresome upon repeat listens, My God is the Sun in particular. Still a cracking album, but I think the love for it will steadily drop, they've still not matched SFTD yet.

The National - Trouble Will Find Me - I adore it. High Violet got a lot of media hype, but this is a superior album. Perfect balance of beauty and liveliness, my AOTY so far, and is currently winning the competition with Boxer for my affections as favourite National album. Get it. Now.

Nick Cave - Push The Sky Away - Nick Cave. On Form. What more do you need? A vast improvement after the disappointing Dig Lazarus Dig, this showcases a great range of what he can do, albeit without quite reaching his peak at any point.

Tomahawk - Oddfellows - Another solid, but not quite outstanding album from one of Patton's many bands. Some cool sounds, some epic choruses, it's up there as one of the best non-FNM Patton-albums, but there's little to make it truly standout.

Atoms for Peace - Amok - Meh.

Biffy Clyro - Opposites - Meh. It's a good double-album, consistent, without-filler and far more engaging and lively than Only Revolutions, but ultimately Biffy have mellowed far too much for my liking. They're good songs, with a bit of variety, but none that I'd prefer to hear than their early stuff.

Albums I really should have listened to (in some cases more than once):

My Bloody Valentine - m b v

Flaming Lips - The Terror

Primal Scream - More Light

How To Destroy Angels - Welcome Oblivion

Bowie - The Next Day

Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law

Editors - The Weight of Your Love

Sigur Ros - Kveikur

Tricky - False Idols

Justice - Access All Arenas

Eels - Wonderful, Glorious

Albums I'm looking forward to:

NIN - Hesitation Marks

Placebo - Loud Like Love

Of Montreal - Lousy with Sylvianbriar

Arcade Fire
