Rock Werchter 2014

I'd rather them both not be there, not a fan of either and I'd rather someone a bit out of the blue but with some wow factor, even if I don't know them want to check them out. Not many of that type of band there this year...

Fingers crossed, think we'll get an announcement Friday but unsure what we'll get..

Elbow just did an interview on Belgian radio (playing a session there tonight), and Guy Garvey accidentally said that they have an arena show and a festival date planned for Belgium this Summer. Then he realized he said something wrong and took back those words...

If Elbow are subbing RW, I'm hoping they do the Sunday as well, got loads of potential bands to see on the Sunday, so it would be wicked if they clashed with someone I really wanted to see. I seen them at TITP2012 and they didn't go down well at all.

Also, I hope Kasabian are playing the festival, can't see why so many people don't want them there, one of the best live bands around imo. Fair enough, I don't really know the popularity of them in Belgium, so I don't know if they'd be a credible sub headliner at RW, but an act I'm really hoping for. (Can't see it though sadly, with them having dates on the 3rd and 5th)

They subbed two years ago, it's between werchter and pukkelpop, as they're touring over both months

I think they'd be a headliner at Pukkelpop. They're about the same size in popularity as The National.

Note that it might also just mean that he doesn't know his own schedule and wrongly assumed that they'd do a fest as well. But considering their great bond with Belgium (and Werchter) it'd be weird that he'd make such a mistake. I was surprised that they chose an arena over Werchter in the first place.

I see that Eddie Vedder got confirmed for Super Bock Super Rock after Pearl Jam ends their European tour. I say Let him sub Sunday!

Paolo Nutini announced for Live at the Marquee in Cork on 8th July, there's already a few bands playing RW from there (Biffy, Pixies, Robert Plant). Would make a nice addition.

Guess we can rule out Kasabian...Belarus July 3rd, Russia July 5th + Roskilde Festival..4 gigs in 4 days seems impossible to me, especially with such distances.

I know that I am dreaming, but still.. How about Iron Maiden? Sure they will headline if they will come to Werchter, But Maybe they can accept co-headlining with Artic Monkeys on Friday the 4th? Their tour dates look like this around Werchter:

July 3: Main Square Festival, France

July 4: Free (RW?)

July 5: Sonisphere, England

July 6: Free

They have announced around 20 shows, but none of them are in Belgium yet. And since Main Square Festival and RW share bands, I can only hope

I'd love to see Iron Maiden again but not like in 2011. If they played after KoL I'd say yes, but I don't wanna hear Fear of the Dark in the sun like in 2011. I really hope they'll come but highly doubt it as they looked out of place the last time...

To play so early is a choice of Iron Maiden theirselves apparently, last year at Graspop they played over half of their show during day/sunset while they were the festival closers.

Are you sure? I've seen Maiden a few times but RW11 was the first time I've seen them when they didn't play after dark...

I just did some googling, and to my surprise it is true. All their 2013 festival shows (Graspop, Download, Sonisphere) have Maiden sets starting between 8.30-9pm and ending between 10.30-11pm. Perhaps they're getting too old to play a 2h show that late?
