Latitude 2014

I thought The Black Keys may be too big, but they seem to be unlikely for T and Glastonbury due to tour dates, and you'd expect them to play somewhere in the UK whilst they're over here. Perhaps they may want to play this to convince Melvin they're a headline band, and feel it may improve their chances of headlining R&L in the future.

Potentially. I am struggling to think of another festival in the UK they'd be more likely to play this year and they are obviously touring next july in europe. I'm coming round to the idea. TDCC/Portishead/Black Keys would be incredibly strong if that is what it turned out to be!

Agreed.

Having just looked at Ed Sheeran's tour, it's bloody big. He'd surely headline if he were to play. If he is only playing one festival you'd probably expect it to be a headline performance somewhere.

True that. Fingers crossed it's not Lattitude. I am so desperate to see Portishead. Ed Sheeran - not so much.

Black Keys aren't "too big to headline", what a silly thing to say. There'd be no harm in Latitude offering them, I don't imagine that they're inundated with headline offers, Latitude is exactly the size of festival they would be headlining in the UK. Their stock hasn't really gone up since playing second from top at Reading and Leeds, Bloc Party and Elbow have headlined the last two festivals, Elbow played the same R&L slot in 2011 and Bloc Party in 2009, so the Black Keys are in the right position to headline Latitude. Boring headliner though.

Time away from family/work/finances/starting a degree this April I can only fit in one festival in July.

That is already werchter but if PJ Harvey, portishead and manics played I would think seriously of selling werchter ticket.

Understandable. On both counts.

Does Portishead being in iceland the weekend before latitude make them more likely? I think they played sweden and norway before glastonbury last year...

Just means they are found festival around the date, don't think it makes them more or less likely.

It sort of does. When we were suggesting them before they had no dates planned at all and it was just a guess that they'd be touring.

You would imagine if they were doing big festivals in the UK this time around, latitude is really the only place they could do with playing Glastonbury last year.

You would of thought they would not play reading/leeds, V, TITP etc etc. Then again they could very well be up for the late festivals like Bestival or Electric Picnic.

But on the other hand, those acts playing Latitude would surely make them likely for Werchter as well. PJ Harvey would be brilliant.

yes couple of years ago they both played werchter next to each other, would be very surprised if they both played again.
