Getting weed into arena?

I'm presuming down the pants or in a mates bra should be fine, basically are there any sniffer dogs or are the searches particularly extensive?

Searches aren't THAT extensive and I didn't see any dogs around at all.

Be warned that there's a fair whack of middle class families around though, some of whom may decide to rat on you.

yeah, will take into consideration, thanks mate, its annoying that the safest illegal drug is hard to do subtly :(

Edit: think I might just eat some weed in the arena haha, would be shit getting ratted on...

I've never been to Latitude before......what sort of size of band have been 'special guests' in the past? Are they announced ahead of the festival? And are they main stage?

Bobby Womack, Alison Balsom and Grizzly Bear were special guests last year, I think the Grizzly Bear slot has already been filled by BBC though as they were a main stage sub. Bobby Womack did the Sunday afternoon slot, which has been Tom Jones, Rufus Wainwright and Thom Yorke in the past, usually happens for an hour slot from 12 -1pm Sunday. Alison Balsom was there as a tradition of classical or traditional music acts that have appeared, there was a European choir one year and Lang Lang in 2012, I don't know where they usually play, to be honest, and that slot may have been already taken by Nils Frahm. These could be subject to change though, Latitude only has a relatively short history and these traditions are only a couple of years old, they could change, new ones could be brought in.

My mates smoked all weekend without a problem. Though they did get very nervous when our convoy of cars got pulled over a couple of miles from the festival. Fortunately they were very polite and didn't search anything... possibly because we all looked quite smart in our work clothes and had two of our mums with us (late 60s and early 70s respectfully)

It's not that you won't be able to smoke it in the arena, I certainly imagine you'll be fine around the time of subs/headliners, but just don't light up anywhere anytime thinking everyone at the fest will be fine with it.

Came across loads of humourless jobsworth bastards in security last year, but all lovely laid back sorts who couldn't give a shit in 2012, so maybe it's luck of the draw, or maybe they've gone serious.

Good to know, it was fine at reading/y not last year, just figured latitude might be a bit more tight as its a more family focused festival, also when some adults see teens smoking weed (me and my mates are all 17) they can be a bit judging :(

Also, just to confirm we're not those annoying kids on ket/coke/md etc. Festivals are not the place for those kinda drugs imo.

I know. Second competition I've won in 6 months!

What is your secret!?

You'll probably love Latitude, loads of stuff to do and see, but also really relaxing if you want it to be. Your son will likely love it too, there's literally something for everybody.

No secret, I enter a lot of competitions but I've only ever won 3. I won a beer fridge years ago from MGD, Micky Flanagan tickets last year and now this.

Yup, looking forward to it. A lot of the music doesn't look to my tastes but there are at least 6 acts I'm already looking forward to and with a bit of investigating, I'm sure there are more.

Comedy line up looks really good though, I imagine we'll spend a lot of time watching that stuff.

Just found out I've won two tickets from a competition in The Times at the weekend :)

Most chuffed. Will be dragging along my 16 year old son for the ride. Time to do some research I think. I may be back with questions!

Nuts! That means that I didn't then as entered the same ones! :) Can't grumble really, won tickets for the last two years :)

ur son will hate it take me instead m8

He'll love it. I've taken him to a couple of small festivals before and he's had the time of his life. The first time I went to Glastonbury and left him behind, he was in tears.

So... you've had it.

:)
