Arcade Fire

Zoo Music Girl

Exactly this for me too, Cap'n. I can tell they're a cut above the usual dross. Everyone I know who has very similar musical tastes to me likes them. I know they're really good. But they're not for me. I tried the whole coachella set recommended on here. I thought it was ok. Now that Pixies aren't gonna be clashing with them, I may even go and see them as a lot I'm with will go. And I'll enjoy it. They just don't quite do it for me. Something doesn't click.

In fact, my big fear is that I end up watching them on the Pyramid and loving it. Then I'll regret not knowing more of their stuff before I did.

How do we know Pixies aren't clashing with them? I haven't been keeping up!

Pixies subbing Skrillex on Other on Friday, leading to a slight crossover with the start of AF.

Meanwhile, a 30 minute walk away, Zoo Music Girl is stood in an empty bar somewhere, with no one to serve, but she isn't allowed to leave as her supervisor says she must finish her shift, whilst The Stone Roses' seminal debut album is on repeat in the background.

She finishes her shift, and hotfoots it over to the Pyramid. The crowds hamper her progress. She arrives just to hear the closing bars of Rebellion (Lies) and Win shout "thank you very much Glastonbury, you've been great. Goodnight."

Around her the crowd all start singing the chorus to Wake up which goes on well into the night as the field empties. She thinks to herself, "well, at least I'm here. I nearly missed out altogether."

Yeah, work's REALLY slow this morn.

oof that's a low blow...

I knew that as I posted it, but I'd put that much effort in by then............

I know she'll take it in the jest it's intended.

However, I also am under no illusions that all this is gonna come back and bite me on the arse sometime in the future. The day I fail on T day, she'll hunt me down.

She is going to ditch the job as soon as she gets inside the festival fence anyway. Nothing is more certain.

You forgot to mention that the bar is the Stonebridge Bar in the Park, not quite within hearing distance of the Park stage. As she works she hears the excitement building up outside the bar as people rush by to catch Nick Caves secret set at the Park

seems Arcade Fire have been playing a different cover at each show to pay homage to a musical hero of that city. wonder if they'll continue this for Glastonbury (i'd rather they not, but something to mull over)

You'd better believe it

How dare you besmirch my character in such a way? I'm spitting in your pint too.

What you've actually done there is clarify something for me and I never realised I felt that strongly. If the Manics are doing the Holy Bilble at glasto (doubtful) and I haven't seen them do that at Leeds (again - they won't) there really isn't a clash for me.

There is nothing I would miss for that, barring the impossible Tom Waits on West Holts or Bowie and even then it would tear me apart that I was missing it. I honestly can't think of anyone else that would make me miss that set.

I think Manics will play a hits set in the day on the Pyramid as they seem to be doing that at T in the Park and V Festival. I think there's a decent chance of an additional Holy Bible set though, I guess.

Everything you say is true, yet a small part of me wants to believe. All cos that twat Wire made a joke about it to tease me. Plus I can see it appealing to them to headline a tent rather than playing to a largely apathetic Pyramid field a la 2007.

And this too. Screamedelica not that long ago........ And that was seen as a success wasn't it?

are manics touring the holy bible then? like primal scream were with screama? That primal scream gig is the only "full album" gig I can recall someone doing at glastonbury (on one of the major stages, which is where manics will be)

also, screamadelica is miles better than holy bible
