After hearing reports of these gigs I do wish I'd got tickets for the earls court gigs. I was just gonna settle for the pyramid gig but obviously very little of the production will be in use there

I'll try and keep an eye out. They've gone back on sale a couple of times already

This. And closing with Wake Up & not Sprawl II

Yep! Highly agreed.

However much I do agree with closing Wake Up, I do think it would work quite well if they closed with Afterlife going in to Supersymmetry, leaving the stage with all of the feedback and noises at the end of it.

A bit like when Radiohead end with Everything in its Right Place. Works really well.

Looking like we'll definitely have a cover.

These are the British tracks they've already covered over the years:

  • David Bowie
    "Heroes"
    Five Years
    Queen Bitch
    Life on Mars
  • The Clash
    London Calling
    Guns of Brixton
I'm So Bored With the USA
  • New Order
    Age of Consent
  • The Beatles
    Helter Skelter
  • John Lennon
    Gimme Some Truth
  • The Rolling Stones
    The Last Time

If there were definitely no special guests joining them onstage; which would you pick? Or what other British (I assume it will be British) song would you pick?

I'm not sure how great any songs by The Fall would go down so I think I'd have them ending the set or the main set with "Heroes", just edging Helter Skelter.

With special guest (Aka Mr Bowie)...Life on Mars :P

Without, I think a rendition of London Calling woud go down a storm at Glastonbury :D (But I can see them doing that or Guns of Brixton at Earls Court if they are following the same patern they are in the US, therefore opting for a Bowie or Rolling Stones cover at Glastonbury).

I don’t think they’ll be doing a cover at festivals (unless Bowie is there with them at Glasto). The sets have been lasting nearly 2 hours, so there’s already quite a lot of material that needs to be cut.

I think their best cover is Controversy, though. If we’re talking British, then The Last Time. I love the Guns of Brixton one, but the covers on this tour have been really upbeat, usually transitioning into HCTNT, so if they do one then I can’t see it being that. The I’m So Bored With the USA one is good, too. When have they covered London Calling?

An encore of Reflektor, Fame, Five Years, Heroes and Wake Up with Bowie would be the dream.

Even though I frown upon the idea of letting Bowie's return steal Arcade Fire's show; I can't stop thinking of Win singing "I, I will be king" and Bowie stepping out of the darkness and singing "and you, you will be queen". But yeah, I'm apprehensive as it's their big moment.

yeah i agree. as fantastic as Bowie coming out would be, nobody would ever remember the first time Arcade Fire headlined Glastonbury - just that Bowie make his live-comeback during it

never gonna happen though
