Arcade Fire

They did Today your love, tomorrow your world at blackpool, can't remember it that well but it wasn't that good

Yeah, they don't strike me as a band to pull off a Ramones cover, not many bands do come out of Ramones covers well, mind you most of them aren't particularly good to begin with. Having said that, I did see Bleached do a great cover of Today Your Love Tomorrow The World last year, so it can work.

yeah i agree. as fantastic as Bowie coming out would be, nobody would ever remember the first time Arcade Fire headlined Glastonbury - just that Bowie make his live-comeback during it

never gonna happen though

I think it can go both ways. An average set with bowie and you're right. If they've already absolutely nailed it and he comes out for wake up then that's the moment of the festival, probably eclipsing the stones last year, and it's their song that goes down in history putting them in radiohead and pulp category. ...but yeah still won't happen Edited by DJL

I don’t think they’ll be doing a cover at festivals (unless Bowie is there with them at Glasto). The sets have been lasting nearly 2 hours, so there’s already quite a lot of material that needs to be cut.

Not necessarily, they may well get a 2 hour headline slot. The days of it being 90 minutes regardless of who you are seem to be long gone, rightly so IMO.

As for the Bowie return, that's blatantly happening in Earls Court... and then I woke up!

they'll get 1 hour 45 like all of the headliners (bar the Stones) get

The headliners get 90 minutes usually. Not an hour and 45.

EDIT: Only really really big acts seem to get over the 90 minutes.

An extra 15 mins doesn't seem ridiculous for them to ask for. Bands like AM and M&S only play 90 mins at their own shows so wouldn't really expect them ask for longer festival sets.

Looking like we'll definitely have a cover.

These are the British tracks they've already covered over the years:

  • David Bowie

    "Heroes"

    Five Years

    Queen Bitch

    Life on Mars

  • The Clash

    London Calling

    Guns of Brixton

I'm So Bored With the USA

  • New Order

    Age of Consent

  • The Beatles

    Helter Skelter

  • John Lennon

    Gimme Some Truth

  • The Rolling Stones

    The Last Time

If there were definitely no special guests joining them onstage; which would you pick? Or what other British (I assume it will be British) song would you pick?

I'm not sure how great any songs by The Fall would go down so I think I'd have them ending the set or the main set with "Heroes", just edging Helter Skelter.

I saw them cover "Still Ill' by The Smiths on the Neon Bible tour in Manchester. Was really good too.

I was thinking we'll probably get a smiths cover when they come to manchester or possibly joy division

Last time I saw them in Manchester on The Suburbs tour Win played a few bars of There Is A Light during The Suburbs (continued). Truth be told it didn't even realise until i read the setlist afterwards.

Not been a big fan of their most recent cover versions. I'd like to see them do more like the Stevie Wonder one though.

I went to both the manchester shows on the suburbs and I don't remember that hahaha.

I'm liking most of there covers atm, mostly uptight and controversy

The Philly show on Monday was incredible!

Roundhouse wasn't quite as gripping as I'd hoped so had been a little concerned they'd lost some of the live magic, but oh no.

Have seen them six times now and that was joint with Leeds 2010 - Tunnels destroyed me.

Glasto have this timed to a tee.

I like Arcade Fire, but really have no inclination to see them live. I don't know why I don't though, they look wonderful live.

I kinda know what you mean.

Must try harder. I'm sure i'll enjoy them if i give 'em a go.

Fuck me, i got so twatted a few years back i even enjoyed the Killers. How fuckin' weird is THAT?!

Okay here is a rough set list i'd like to see. . . yes we are back to lists in this thread.

I know that this won't be anywhere near what happens but it'd be my personal preference.

Reflektor

Keep the Car Running

Haiti

Modern Man

Joan of Arc

Afterlife

Flashbulb Eyes

Wake Up

We Exist

Here Comes the Night Time

Rococo

City With No Children In

We Used to Wait

Power out

Rebellion

Encore break

My Body Is A Cage

Normal Person

No Cars

That's around 90 mins.
