zero000
Here's a weird bootleg of them covering heart of glass:http://www.stereogum.com/1675087/hear-arcade-fires-live-cover-of-blondies-heart-of-glass/mp3s/ I wonder if we'll get a cover at Glastonbury? CHRLY
I'm actually a massive fan of that cover, seen a lot of hate for it around already but I reckon it compliments regine's voice really well
willutalk
I think my perfect encore would be neighboorhood 1-4 followed by wake up Just realised that there was a fourth (stupid me!) Always though there was three. --SEPARATE POST (EDIT)-- Who thinks Arcade Fire are a band who should do a 'By Request' scheme for their live shows. I think this partially because their solid records (lots of tracks that would be great live) and the fact that there are 4 of them. Looking back at previous shows on Setlist fm, there are always a few tracks which are left out (Intervention and Month of May I feel have been left out too much recently). By doing a By Request to find out the most wanted tracks for the bulk of their setlist and put this along with a couple of covers and maybe one or two lesser well known tracks you'd get more of a balanced setlist. bocumaroy
Love that cover. Probably second only to the Prince one, for me. Very much doubt they’ll do one at Glastonbury, unless Bowie was involved. Which I also don’t see happening. god i hope we get Laika and not Haiti. that would be amazing. Laika is the far superior song (especially live where it really comes alive) I love both, but I’d choose Haiti out of the two. Maybe it’s the whole ‘being in love with Regine’ factor. WS_Jack_III
Yeah Haiti is awesome.
kingcrawler
I'd rather they played Haiti than Laika. I hope they bring Keep the Car Running back into the set for Glastonbury, one of their best songs.
CHRLY
Arghhhh, I want them all!!! Can't we have them all?!?!

As for the 'by request' thing I think we have to appreciate that they are going for a certain vibe with this tour and certain songs just wouldn't fit in with the theme. I'd love it cause it would mean a chance to see in the backseat and 7 kettles, with the possible option of suburban war and even porno (my now favourite song on reflektor, gutted they haven't played it live). Just can't see it though, I get the feeling they very much like to be in full control of their live show
mrtourette
'By Requests' are always a dumb idea.
CHRLY
'By Requests' are always a dumb idea. For the fans or for the band?
mrtourette
They just tend to be more of a gimmick than anything. Let the band put on the show they feel like doing. Most of the setlists that are chosen by 'the fans' are pretty much the same that the band would play anyway.
CHRLY
Yeh I've heard a lot on here about the Metallica ones being similar I every other gig. I do agree that it's generally better to let the band do their own thing, luckily with arcade fire it's always fucking good
theDandy
'By Requests' are always a dumb idea. Queens of the Stone Age at Glasto did it though didn't they, certainly went down well.
zero000
Queens of the Stone Age at Glasto did it though didn't they, certainly went down well. True. That was an excellent setlist with a performance to match.

Yeah I agree with this. Just looked at the QOTSA '11 Glasto one and it's good but there's nothing there they don't play all the time anyway. Seems a wasted opportunity
FloorFiller
Yeah I agree with this. Just looked at the QOTSA '11 Glasto one and it's good but there's nothing there they don't play all the time anyway. Seems a wasted opportunity therein lies the problem: whilst a small portion of diehard fans will be voting for the album tracks / b-sides / lesser played songs, the larger portion of the crowd and casual fans will be voting for the singles and well known songs, so these things always end up looking similar to a regular setlist (except if that band doesn't usually do 'greatest hits' sets). look at Metallica's - every single one of them is almost identical bar one or two songs
Lubic
Id choose Haiti over Laika - always one of my highlights live. Ideally both though!
FloorFiller
looks like Keep The Car Running is rarity on this tour which is a bummer goddam you Flashbulb Eyes / cover versions

psward
One thing we can know for sure is that covers can be expected. http://pitchfork.com/news/54737-arcade-fire-cover-blondies-heart-of-glass/

Tuna
I shouldn't love that Heart of Glass cover like I do.

zero000
But that had nothing to do with it being a 'by request' thing. They did play some obscure tracks. Tangled up in plaid, better living through chemistry and the fun machine took a shit and died aren't exactly typical festival fodder. DomDom1984
They actually WERE the typical QotSA festival fodder at the time.
