they seem to release them on a three year cycle (thus far) so i'd expect it next year possibly

Didn't they imply they'd have a bit longer off this time with family etc? I would expect sometime in 2017 maybe.

don't think i've actually listened to Reflektor (or thinking about it, possibly even Arcade Fire) since Glastonbury last year as i'd been listening to them a ridiculous amount in the lead up to the festival. will possibly have to have a binge soon

That's exactly what happened to me. And I would also guess they would start working on an album in 2017 and it be released late 2017 / early 2018.

i feel that neon bible is underrated and the suburbs way overrated.

 

i love the weirdness of reflektor. hope they continue in that direction.

(which doesn't mean I think that Funeral is a bad album. It's just different levels of incredibleness.)

It is such a shame to think it's probably going to be at least 2 more albums until they come back to Pilton. I would guess they would probably want to do Reading again next time they play the festival circuit.

and the thought that their crowd would still be embarrassingly small when they're put up against some dreadful EDM act on the NME stage

 

forgot that a lot of them have become family men (and women) over the last couple of years - may delay the album i guess which is a shame. suppose they're a big enough act now that they're in a position where they can go away for as long as they want and return just as big as they ever were

There's some sort of film coming out on September 24th called 'The Reflektor Tapes'. Seems like it will be a bit like Mirror Noir going by the trailers with some live bits as well as bits about Haiti and the making of the album. It's being shown in cinemas so hopefully there's quite a few over here showing it.

 

One of my friends was in a camera crew recording both Earls Court nights so I assume some of that footage will make it in. It sounds interesting, but a bit annoying to me as I just want a normal Arcade Fire live dvd for once!

Is anyone else a little worried for the future of this band? With will having a solo project and the whole family thing?

I can see them having one more album, a big tour (as they always seem to do) and going.

nah i don't see it - reckon they'll be going for longer than that (although it's obviously hard to guess this kind of thing). thousands of acts have families and side projects and it doesn't stop them so i don't see why it'd stop this lot. they still seem to very much enjoy what they're doing which is apparent in their live performances so i think they'll keep on keeping on

There's no way they're finishing up any time soon. They've made it to the top level and the last tour was under a year long and their families joined them on the road so they can pretty much tour as they like to manage being parents. Plus it seems they're having way too much fun.

 

You said the same about Radiohead too. Do you just live in fear that all your favourite bands are gonna break up?

I think you've misjudged how I feel about it there. I mean that if they decided to pack it in because they couldn't write decent music and didn't fancy playing live any more, my reaction would be like, 'I've seen them a couple of times and have some good memories there. I'm not too fussed', rather than, 'NOOOOOOOOOO'.

I think Arcade Fire will end up as one of those bands who become quite inactive as time goes on without ever really 'splitting' as such. Not quite Portishead or Pixies, but not 'churn out a shit album every three years' either.

Win DJs a lot now and seems to be involved in a few other projects - he was working on something with Little Paris, and I saw a clip recently of him, Regine, Diplo and Skrillex (bit weird, yeah) playing something together, it sounded quite good - and everyone else has their own side projects, so it’s not like they’re not active. 

 

Kahlil Joseph is good. Looking forward to the film. Love the way that isolated bit of Rebellion sounds at the end of the Porno video.
