I reckon the realisation that he was only 0.1% at talented as his bezzy mate is why he topped himself.

That, and the fact that he had somehow ended up with paula fucking yates.

I was brought up thinking he didn't top himself.

Wasn't he best pals with Bono too? He could probably always console himself by thinking 'at least I'm more talented than Bono'.

They were excellent in Sydney a couple of nights back. Afterlife sounds so much better live!

Also despite Funeral being most peoples favourite, there was at least one song from each album that got an absolutely rapturous reception. And they ended with Wake Up. Which they should do every gig. Also, huge amounts of confetti during Here Comes the Night Time!

Only gripes were they didn't play Tunnels which is surely criminal. And I think not doing Power Out into Rebellion anymore is a shame.

From day one they've always been into breaking the fourth wall, at their early gigs they would walk through the crowd while playing Rebellion, I remember seeing them on the Neon Bible tour at Manchester Apollo and they got loads of people up on stage. And last night even in an arena setting they managed it, opening with an a Capella My Body is a Cage in the seating sections of the crowd, then Will grabbing several people from the front row's mobiles and taking selfies of himself and ones of the crowd.

It will be interesting to see how that manifests itself at Glastonbury (although unfortunately I won't be there),,,

Think about this set on a daily basis now. So incredibly excited for what is undoubtedly going to be something quite special. Seen them a bunch times since the Neon Bible tour and they just grow and grow in my estimations. They always sound so...together. The Blackpool show last November was something else.

This bucket setlist came to me fully formed on the bus home today. Just spitballing here, but it would be an absolute dream come true for me to witness this on the Pyramid. If we get anything even slightly resembling this, I'll be ecstatic. Optimised for ooh's and ahh's...

1. Normal Person
2. Ready to Start
3. Power Out
4. Rebellion
5. Awful Sound
6. Ocean of Noise (with the extra touring horns this is fab live)
7. Keep the Car Running
8. Afterlife
9. Sprawl II
10. Crown of Love (would dissolve into a mushy puddle of emotions if this happened)
11. Haiti
12. No Cars Go
13. Joan of Arc
14. The Suburbs
15. Intervention
16. It's Never Over
17. Tunnels
18. Here Comes The Night Time
19. Month of May
20. Headlights Look Like Diamonds
21. Reflektor
22. Wake Up
aaaaand i'm back in the room..

Really?! That'd be decent, would prefer Franz but certainly better than dizze subbing arctics

no i was very much taking the piss, and i'm disappointed that you think it's good

Any chance it could be Beck? He seems like the kinda guy who would fit into that kind of slot, and Glasto could easily get away with putting him there, even though he's not a typically sub sized act.

i'd absolutely love this. Beck anywhere on the lineup would make me very happy
