Couple of questions

First time at V and have a few questions for some of the regulars. Firstly, we're thinking of getting a train up from Portsmouth and was wondering how to get to the site from the train station? do they do a shuttle service or something, If so how much does it cost? Also near the site (or even on site) is there a local shop we can get drink for the weekend (at normal not festival prices) to save us carrying loads up?

From Chelmsford station, you cross over the road and walk down to a car park and they run shuttle buses which is about a fiver each for the whole weekend so you can go back and too to town from Writtle as much as you need which is ideal if you want breakfast. The tesco at Miami roundabout is easily walkable from Hylands and only about 20/25 mins max through the fields or there is a tesco express by chelmsford station, hope this helps

Is the shuttle good for getting to Chelmsford on Sunday night/Monday morning? I will be picking people up on sunday night around midnight/1am and was wondering if it's better to avoid the festival site and get them to go to the station? Is the bus running at that time? If so is it really busy and you have to queue for ages?

Anyone traveling down by train on Friday should use the Co-op on Duke Street for their "V Festival essentials" 1 min walk from the station and 2 mins from the V Shuttle bus service. Local Beer and Shaken Udder milkshake tastings on Friday from Midday so definately worth a visit.

Hey, this is also my first time at V or any festival. I heard from someone V doesn't allow mallets into the camp site is this true, how can you put up a tent without a mallet? Also how often are the shuttle buses, are they every few minutes or something?
