Simpo
What we know: White Campsite is gone, making way for the new village area. Presumably the old village area is being consumed slightly by the need to extend the arena, with 2 new stages. Relentless Stage is now "in the woods near orange funfair camping". So, something like this? http://goo.gl/maps/ZDsRA
Benj
I wonder how much the changes to the Arenas will effect things. One of the things that I really enjoy about Reading is the compactness of the arena and the fact that you can get from main stage to second stage in under 5 mins. It will certainly lose some if its shine if its suddenly taking 8-10 minutes. I remember when V change their layout (Chelmsford) circa 2007, it suddenly made stage transitions, that were already slightly worse than at Reading, an absolute pain in the arse, making it take 20 mins plus between stages. On the plus side you would assume there will be more space for chilling out and areas like 'Tubourg Town' can be maintained to add some variety to whats available entertainment Edited August 12, 2013 by Benj
she bangs the drums
It certainly looks like there will be quite a big shake up to both sites though Leeds changes sound bigger if the Relentless tent is moving to near Piccadilly, as a nearly 40 year old, I wouldn't fancy camping anywhere near that as I need to get some sleep to survive and be in a fit state to watch 11 hours of bands! It makes the issuing of the maps a bit more interesting this year!
spike3001
Just tweeted them asking when the maps will be out and got the helpful response of 'Soon as it's ready mate'

kev1664
To be fair, they get asked the same question about 40 times a day. They're in the process now of putting the stages up, so they may have to wait until its all up before they can issue a finalised map?
trebor1892
Yeah, cos that's the way planning works......just stick it up lads we will think about access and safety later when there are hundreds of deaths.
kev1664
But if they have to go off plan? Sometimes its not possible. For example, it rains heavily for 3 days solid, meaning that the area that stage x was to go in is completely saturated rendering it unsafe to stick a stage there, meaning having to move to plan B. Or if they get all the toilet blocks put up, and H&S come in and tell them they need to be moved 500 meters North. I can understand people being keen to see the map, but surely it only needs to be seen the day before camping opens?
trebor1892
Personally if I was organising it, I'd just want to put the final map up. Guessing it won't be long now anyway
kev1664
They will be anyway though. The provisional map will almost certainly be the same as the final map.
Benj
Main Stage and Radio 1/NME stage are in same place. Arena extends out west into yellow and north a bit to road G4 Edited August 13, 2013 by Benj
Paul ™
Same routes out of green/red to town, green wristband exchange moved slightly west along waterside. Small wristband exchange across from reaper bridge and other one on west side of arena extension which takes out some yellow campsite. scmck
So if they are getting rid of white, what will be the new quiet campsite?
Simpo
Brown has always been the quiet Leeds campsite, and will be restored to its 2011 size.

OMG OMG etc etc where am I best getting a hotel for easiest transport out thinking of Wetherby or is Leeds city centre the best bet ? shuttle bus or taxi ? if taxi where should i book one from and pick up where ? lightning1000
Taxis are a flat fare of £25 each way from Leeds train station. The shuttle bus runs from near the station (there are signs) and is £7 return. Hotel in Leeds centre is far more convenient. Which hotel you stay depends on your budget/availability. High end near the station are the park plaza and the queens. Mid range is the Hilton. The etap is your bare bones option but that's on the other end of town. You could always just stay at the fest, do an all nighter with the late night entertainment that reading doesn't have, then head back over in the morning. Would save you the cost of a hotel and probably be more fun.
Bisque
Plenty of people stay the night at Reading on day tickets so I'd expect it'd be even easier & more fun at Leeds.
