Annual which Pub for football questionv(Reading edition)

As gets asked every single year, which is now the best (nearest) pub (station side) to watch football in near the station.

We used to go the Moderation, then that got all gentrified and took the football out, then we went to the one just over Caversham Bridge but I heard that that closed, so where is the best spot now, or should we just stay in town?

I meant the one on the left, first one after the bridge. Google streetview suggests it was/ is now Bridges -- https://www.google.co.uk/maps/preview#!data=!1m8!1m3!1d3!2d-0.976928!3d51.466399!2m2!1f281.96!2f89.32!4f70.03!2m4!1e1!2m2!1s8wVBEYOEXTUtgEeV_wwEeg!2e0&fid=5

It used to be called something like Shadies bar or somethign I think

The crown always seems to have banging music coming out of it at 12PM, just fancy a couple of quiet pints and the football at that point!

Ah OK, yeah that used to be a sports bar, I'm sure it's open in some capacity but don't know if it's still a sports bar. And yeah the jukebox in the Crown is well utilised over the festival weekend, I think later on in the day when it thins out they turn the volume up for the football or cricket but while people are still in there having a breakfast or a couple of pre-arena pints the music is on.

Last year we (Arsenal) played Stoke away on the early sunday kick off.

Went to head for the Crown on the Bridge in Caversham as per previous years, only to be told that wasn't showing football anymore......wound up at the Clifton Arms about another 10 min walk up the road.....front bar room was rammed but managed to watch it in the back room next to people playing pool

This time we have Fulham away on the early Saturday kick off......anyone know if the Crown on the Bridge is showing football again or shall I just head straight for the Clifton Arms?

It should be, I know they went through a phase last year of not having one or the other channels (or any at one point) but I watched the Lions tests in there over the Summer so they definitely have Sky back.

If it's the case that they have the channels but are just not showing the football I'd be very surprised but can't confirm I'm afraid.
