Slipknot could easily sub, I don't see them as headliners for any festival bar download or sonisphere.

Exactly, why would they bother subbing then? Didn't Andy Copping bitch about SOAD subbing last year and how the bands' credibility had been tarnished because they'd accepted that position or something? Not sure Slipknot would want to take that risk.

Andy Coppings word is as good as his festival

And sub at Reading would likely compare to headlining Soni with Soni budget at 8mil and Readings 20-30mil

Corey Taylor's said he'll be at Download next year and I'd imagine it's a hell of a lot more likely promoting a new album with Slipknot than solo/Stone Sour.

Is Corey Taylor the man from The Dandy Warhols? (Too lazy to Google).

I hope there's a good handful of bands next year, in 2012 I decided I was done with the place because the fact that there's nothing but the bands was a bit sticking point, and I was made to feel old by the average age in the campsite. But I've watched the last 2 years on iPlayer, I didn't miss it so much last year, but this time round I found myself wanting to have been there for quite a few gigs, the Paramore day at Leeds would have suited me really well. It's never going to be my weekend festival of choice again, I don't have enough days off work to warrant it, there's loads of other festivals I want to try, and I've been to too many others to shell out the weekend price for nothing but bands. But a big one or two day gig in a field, on bank holiday weekend, in reasonable distance of home, where loads of people I know already go to, yeah I could go in for that.

I'm drawing a bit of blank, trying to think of bands that will headline it (Kings Of Leon, maybe?), but I think The Cribs are due a return. I've not seen the Jarmans play live at all so far this year, so an NME headline performance next year would do me very nicely.

He's the guy from Slipknot.

I reckon The Cribs are a decent shout for coming back next year, they're supposed to have two new albums out aren't they? You'll be incredibly lucky to get an NME headline slot out of them though.

I normally buy a ticket in the december announcement, but I reckon i'l hold out a little for next year.

After going to festivals every year, the list of bands you'd be excited to see somewhat dwindles. I wanna see what Reading will roll out with before I buy a ticket.

Then again, if they book a fucking corker and announce them in december i'l purchase one.

The Killers - again, not played in a while, will most likely have a new album by then, indie legends apparently.

Brandon said in the V programme he doesn't see a new album for the Killers any time soon but never say never. Or something. Also he's working on a second solo record. Get the feeling they're probably going on hiatus properly this time.

When we asked him if any acts booked were headliners, he replied: "There's one booked, there's one booked at least. We're just waiting for them to decide which nights they want to play Reading and which night they want to play Leeds. One's done, the other two will follow."

As for clues, Melvin told us: "It's definitely not a Reading regular. It's not who you think it might be."

Any guesses?

Lady gaga or beyonce :)

Beyonce and Jay Z showing up with their joint tour thing would make sense because R&L having it on a UK exclusive would explain why they've not announced any UK dates for it.
