But The Prodigy > Foals (in terms of size) and will be for a while. Anyway Foals aren't doing any live shows for 18 months so they'll be back in 2016 with a new album and probably headlining

Certainly with the teenage generation Foals are more popular - however you may be right about the 2016 thing I hadn't heard that but would make sense

They're not. The Prodigy are still popular with teenagers and you are aware that it is not just teenagers that attend R&L

I'm a teenager and although the prodigy are popular with all the people I know I would say 95% of em could tell you more foals tunes

Your completely right about reading being more than just teenagers and of course Leeds compared to reading has practically no teenagers but reading is the bigger of the two and they have to cater towards the teenagers - two door could work well but I'd say more likely nme tent headliners

Metallic as a great shout as is catfish and the bottle men - the balcony is class album

This is where I stop reading forever

Also I concur that The Libertines were really fantastic last night, unexpectedly tight and without any security hitches. Was expecting a really rough and dickish crowd but everyone was really great, no fights and such, just singing and dancing, good shhtuff.

I'm 18 so that makes me a teenager and most of my mates are 17/18 so they too are teenagers and they could all tell me Prodigy songs than Foals easily. One girl I asked last year said she heard of them but couldn't tell me a single song and she is a festival goer (she went to Y Not though). Smack My Bitch, Invaders Must Die and Omen are only a few that my mates could name while Foals would have My Number then that is about it (for most of them)

Also I didn't know you did studies about the types of people that attend at Reading compared to Leeds. I guess when I went in 2013 and 2014 with my mates (and also my brother and his friends who were also teenagers then) was just a dream as I did see lots of teenagers about. Also Reading isn't on another scale to Leeds, they are both major festivals and they both have the same demographic.

There are no children up north, we butcher them and turn them into oxo cubes

Sometimes they are used as slave labour to make gravy. It was rough growing in the North

I'd like to see the following play next year

Paul Thomas Saunders - Never heard of him?

Catfish and the bottlemen - Yeah

War on drugs - Dunno, maybe headline FR but I'm not too sure FR will book

Kodaline - Yeah

Kings of leon (headliners) - No

Vaccines - Probably

Mystery Jets - Dunno

London Grammar - Weren't booked this year even though they were playing festivals in August in Europe so I'm not too sure

Tame Impala - Probably

Bon iver - Dunno

The Struts - Never heard of them

Ben howard - No

Completely out the blue but there's been quite a bit of discussion on another board about 'Emily's Army' signing with a major record label. Supposedly they've been telling a few close fans who attend all there shows. If that's the case I'd bank on it they'll go fairly big within the next two years or so purely because there teenagers who have the one direction look and will get marketed this shit out of. So girls will love them and buy all there stuff. So I'd expect them to be possibly headlining festival Republic if not high up NME come next year.

To be honest I doubt they'll get big unless they change their sound quite a bit and I don't think they'll do that. Anyway never really understood these guys at all. The drummer is Billie Joe Armstongs song and he wants to distance himself from him by not getting any help but the first thing I thought of when I listened to them was that is was Green Day but I did listen to two songs earlier and some of them are a bit different and they've still have help from his dad anyway. Anyway I'm seeing them support Rise Against in November so I'll make a fair judgement then

I can give you a hint, it's a link to my post history

It's true though, must be said

haha I suppose that's why :P

Nah I just didn't understand the album sales thing you were alluding to.

Well apparently promoters only look at the first week or two of album sales to determine what kind of tour a band does. So if there's hardly any shows, it'll be club/pub gigs. If it goes to number 1, it'll be much larger shows.

This is extremely simplified but I've read and been told by a fair few people now that this is genuinely how promoters size up bands. Theory is that after the first week or two, if you haven't bought the album, you're not going to be in to them enough to buy a ticket to their shows.

Oh right. Surprised (if) it's that cut and dried but it loosely makes sense I guess. Assuming it doesn't apply across the board eg. 30STM having a no. 5 album and doing arenas and what not.
