I genuinely think Billy and his ego would rather headline a smaller fest than have a minor role at Reading. I guess they'd be a 2nd stage headliner, but I'm not sure they'd want a 1hr slot not on the mainstage.

I would've said that too before they played Glastonbury but I don't reckon most festivals would bother getting Pumpkins in when you can have Two Door Cinema Club or something in the same slot for half the price.

Definitely agree. Highly doubt a mid-sized fest could afford to bring The Smashing Pumpkins over to the UK for one show

Edit: I say this as I can't think of any heavier subs who could play. Most suitable I could come up with was Frank Turner susbbing them and that just doesn't feel right.

Bestival might, I guess. But even then it would have to be part of more EU shows, and I can only really think of Electric Picnic and RES that would have them too.
