Lineup 2015

Exactly and then they know who it was!

Maybe he should named on the poster "The guy that done the Seven Nation Army Riff" :P

Subs/Co-headline, they in that weird position where they are a bit bigger than most sub headliners, but not really big enough to headline on their own.

I think his name is what has him subbing in the first place, never mind stepping up to headline.

I don't subscribe to this belief that coheadline is a different level to headlining either. They're headlining IOW and have only chosen headline slots the past few years so they're headliners or nothing at R+L. They wouldn't be a weak one either.

co-headlining is definitely a lesser position than headlining though, isn't it? Pulp and The Strokes wouldn't have headlined alone. Paramore and QOTSA wouldn't have headlined alone. they needed the other to make their positioning not seem weak, much like The Prodigy and Black Keys at IOW

the only headline positions The Prodigy have done in recent years have been Download and Sonisphere, festivals that often have acts headlining that other festivals wouldn't, and in both cases where they seemed like the 'weaker' headliner of the bunch

i do think The Prodigy will headline R/L next year. whether it'll be a co-headliner or not i couldn't say - depends how well this new album does i guess

What makes you say that? The Strokes were gonna headline alone if Pulp didn't come along. My Chemical Romance headlined that year and were a much weaker headliner than either. I'm sure either of Paramore and QOTSA would have headlined alone as well if they didn't both accept.

The Black Keys are a weak headliner for IOW but The Prodigy aren't. Biffy coheadlined at IOW last year and headlined R+L the year before, the IOW set heralding the fact that they were proper headliners now or something for most. The reason The Prodigy are on that day is probably because they want to carry on having a dance act close the Friday night and that's what they're doing.

Also as I've said before, The Prodigy were a Download second stage headliner the same year as they were playing lower at other fests, and went on to sell out MK Bowl on the same tour. Pearl Jam didn't even do that and people are always linking them to Download. Back then The Prodigy had only had one album out in twelve years and it bombed so no wonder they weren't getting headline slots across the board but by doing that and plugging a hugely successful album they've risen back to headline slots.

Never seen em live. Just think their music sucks.

IOW? Didn't someone say they looked for the quote where Giddings ruled them out and couldn't find anything?

tbf, I don't like their music either but when I did see them live, they were really good fun. Worth seeing them if you get a chance Will :)

I could take them or leave them before Reading 2012. Then I saw them and they were REALLY BLOODY GOOD. Two Nottingham gigs last year were two of the best nights of my life (I have a sad life). Superb.

Definitely worth checking out at a festival, although I dunno what they'd be like midway down one of these EU lineups.

Or their own shows.

They've been on about doing Wembley.

(And I reckon they're a good bet for BST if not)

How many gigs can Wembley hold a year? I had it in my head that they were only allowed 6 for some reason which is how many are announced just now but looking at previous years there's been more.

I'm sort of expecting them to do Wembley and Murrayfield after what they said, seems a bit strange (Murrayfield especially) to talk about what stadiums you want to play and then not do any.

I dunno, I think I've read somewhere they've maxed out their allowance although I could be wrong.

That's partly why I think they're a good bet for BST.

I would doubt that. The last big outdoor show in London they headlined they had to give thousands of tickets away on The Sun website. Plus I imagine the likes of R+L have bigger pull than BST considering they were scrapping away for headliners right up until May last year.

Where would Mac Demarco play?

FR or a different festival.

True but they've since had a number one album (potentially two I can't remember the dates), headlined Glastonbury, played Victoria Park and had an arena tour pretty much sell out within a day. They're just as big as draw as pretty much all the headliners they've had, bar The Stones.

I don't think R&L would have them back so soon, even with a new album. It's needlessly repetitive when there are a whole bunch of acts they could book who would serve the same audience and didn't headline three years ago.
