Lineup 2015

Recommended Posts

The Libertines are TBC on here so will definitely be there, and they'll definitely headline now that they're headlining T. The Libertines will probably be the most popular headliner of the three, as well.

RHCP don't seem like they'll be touring this Summer. Th Prodigy are headlining Isle of Wight so won't be headlining R&L (and they're probably not bigger than The Libertines). Chase and Status wouldn't headline and again are smaller than The Libertines. KOL would be a possibility but, as said, it's The Libertines.

Fair enough i'd call this one of the weakest readings ever then, 2 brand new headliners and they're not even co-headlining

That's only happened once. Why would that be a thing?

Also neither are weak at all. Mumfords have headlined T and Glastonbury and Libertines are headlining T and weren't far off selling Hyde Park out last year.

yeah but the only band that has the status like Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Foo Fighter, KOL, RHCP, RATM, Green Day and Radiohead is Metallica i'm not saying either mumford or the libertines are bad i'm just saying they've not got the same status impact as a headliner like we've seen previously at reading and normally we only get one of these a year

Sorry to bring up the libertines again must be sick of hearing about them by now but i really do think they would be to weak as a main headline especially with this new demographic which they are forcefully pushing through by getting annoying acts like Macklemore and putting him way to high up so he has to do the same song twice. Just wondering what people thoughts are only the actually likeliness of The Libertines and if you don't think they're headline material who would be the third headliner, only thing i can think of would be RHCP (new material out towards the end of this year) or prodigy and chase and status i know Rebel Sound are at reading already so they would already be onsite to be able to do a chase ans status performance...

Why? When I saw them at Hyde Park there were lots of young people there (and I'd say quite a few of them went to R&L that year) and Macklemore is a popular act and I think he got a pretty good crowd, I was the only person out of my group of mates who complained about him subbing so his spot was justified really. Also I'd say The Libertines are more relevant to the R&L demographic than KOL

How? Mumford & Sons are a pretty big band to be fair. I'd say that two new headliners is a good thing really, especially when a few festival that keep on rebooking acts frequently to headline again and again

Nah.

2014 - Blink, QOTSA and Paramore (granted, the last 2 co-headlined)

2013 - Biffy

2012 - Kasabian, The Cure

2011 - MCR, The Strokes, Pulp (again, last 2 co-headlined tbf)

etc.

And Mumford are probably bigger than every act listed above.

They were all new headliners at one point though and some festival or other and would've been scrutinised as such. Mumfords stepping up at Glastonbury and then coming to R+L a couple of years later same as Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon is it not? Libertines reuniting and becoming more popular than ever just like RATM? Just because they've not been going twenty years and headlined two or three times already doesn't make it weak; it makes it more interesting if anything.

One of what a year? Acts you've decided aren't big enough when they actually are? :P

Remember it always used to be a thing where there'd be a 2 hour headliner and two 90 min headliners. This is a return to that sort of pattern. Reminds me a lot of 2009's trio personally.

EDIT: So in the time it took me to write that another like 4 replies went in! I'm sure you can figure out what I was replying to ^^

Guess your right there and tbf it's a bit to soon for me to judging the festival when I've not seen the subs and most of the day acts I can imagine it will shape up to be a good one anyway

Couldn't agree more, right through the 00's new bands were given the leg up to headliner status and it's becoming rarer, hence why I thought the Biffy booking in 2013 was such as good one. Really hope bands like Foals/BBC/Royal Blood can make it with their next albums and provided they are put next to bands of Metallica's stature the bookings dont look weak. I think headline wise 2015 (Libs permitting) is going a very strong year, with a good diverse trio.

Tbh I was dissapointed with Macklemore because of personal preference but I think his booking was a decent one.

Libs are more relevant than Kol any day, I can see Killers/KOL/Stereophonics all dying out and loosing their billings at the top of festivals in the next 5/6 years or so and can't see any coming back to R&L.

I'd argue that The Cure (and perhaps Kasabian) are bigger than Mumford.

It's my current phase, also when I joined I remember people being sassy to me (but then again I was more useless back then than I am now)

You're still useless pal. But don't you worry... you'll always be a star ;)

I know that, I was trying to get that across actually :P

Also not any old star but a Simon Neil and Babyquack approved one at that 8)
