To be fair, I don't think it's a case of 'not having the heart to tell her' when in fact you're not obliged to tell her and it would be a real dick move.

Well she thought I was a massive fan when I could only name Goodbye Mr. A and a few others. To be fair though, she seemed to be a lovely person and I quite enjoyed hearing the stories she'd tell. It made for a nice interlude in the day as it got extremely quiet in that particular store.

I would av defo told her.

Out of interest, how did you know she was his mum? Did she introduce herself with "Hi I'm The Hoosiers' frontman's mum".

I'd do that if I was his mum.

haha, we were playing music in the bakery (as long as there were no swear words, our manager didn't mind) and she was like "oh do you boys like music? You know, my sons in a band..." and the rest, as they say, is history ;)

Loool if she used the fact you were playing music as an excuse to tell you, she was defo trying to bring it up at any opportunity.

That sounds harsh actually; didn't mean it to, but that's a pretty lame excuse to bring it up.

Weirdly enough I had that Worried About Ray song in my head a couple of days ago and and then started skulking around their wiki page to see what they were doing now.

Alt-j headlined before they'd done an academy tour. Trying to make sense of placements is pointless.

Yes they had, by the time they got announced for R&L I'm pretty sure one or both additional London dates had been added/sold out

http://www.nme.com/news/alt-j/65901

That CHVRCHES tour is short however they had already supported the album with two tours by that point (admittedly the one back in October 2013 was pretty small); they also were very busy extensively touring the US so probably did not have the time to hang around long

If it was their actual tour and they wanted to play as few gigs as possible then why not just upgrade to the academies?

Because they were concerned that they couldn't fill those kind of venues, which is the point I'm trying to make

It's possible that they could book them to sub (although it'd be pretty weak) however I think headlining NME is simply out of the question; with the names banded about for late summer festivals I'm sure they wouldn't go from booking arena acts to a group who support at them

So it's definitely the NME/R1 stage for Rebel Sound and not the R1 Dance

http://www.redbull.com/uk/en/music/stories/1331702970922/rebel-sound-announce-new-shows

They sound massive, what's people's thoughts against Mumford I reckon they would pull a big crowd

Interesting booking IMO. I think I'd probably see them if they were up against Mumford, sure they haven't done many shows but I think it'll be the only opportunity to see Chase & Status (I know it's Rebel Sound but by the sounds of it it's a C&S focused sound set, playing 13 of their own songs at CC) in a tent which I think will be a massive draw for people.

I do still think Knife Party will play too, which makes the NME look like deadmau5 / Knife Party / Rebel Sound which I think would please some but alienate a lot of others. I wouldn't be surprised if RS pulled the biggest crowd out of those three either.

I think the idea of 'closing set' is a very good one too: it still allows for standard NME headliners to play, but also gives a chance for popular dance acts who're too big for the Dance Tent to play. I don't think RS will be a closing set tho. Last year Nero only had a closing set since Bombay would clash with AM, which is why I think Knife Party will do a closing set over Peace on the Libertines day, since they share a similar demographic. deadmau5 will headline the tent outright IMO.

Also Knife Party headlining Mutiny Fest in West Sussex at the tale end of July, this could make them look quite unlikely to appear at R/L, but they'll probably be back over for creamfields so wouldn't be sure until CF line up is out

I don't think that this changes anything really, they're around in London for Wireless and now Mutiny, their AMA on Reddit suggested that R&L was in the works and I still think we have nothing to suggested that the offer has fallen through. As for the whole 'be back over' I think it's a non-issue, although they're Australian, Rob and Gareth spend so much time in the UK I can see them playing in UK / Europe across summer.

But yeah, the only thing I can see stopping them from playing is CF.
