I'm on my phone at the mo, watching lonely the brave, waiting for against me, how many pages are we up to??

 

 

£45 Sunday tickets on Gumtree. Real tempted. If Mastodon and RTJ were still there I'd definitely grab one.

 

I'd have grabbed one at £50 if a mate was interested. I am also minimum of 2hrs away. And that's without RTJ and Mastodon.

Red button showing selected bits and pieces from half nine also. There won't even be a BBC Three to show anything on next year so we may as well get used to Reading getting minimal effort, I guess, although the lack of online streams is still a bit of a surprise.

Pretty shocking if that's the case, especially as there was the usual extensive coverage for Glastonbury just a few months ago.

 

Maybe Reading and Leeds should do what Coachella and Lollapalooza do and stream the festival on their own channel on Youtube, if the BBC aren't going to be arsed about something which pulls in many viewers for them, then they should take it into their own hands.

The viewing figures weren't that great in recent years tbf. Glasto gets big coverage because it's Glasto and T hasn't been noticeably cut back because it ticks the regional output box but I do agree that this will probably be testing FR's patience, especially if they use the 'you get free promo on the BBC' thing to convince acts to play like Glasto do (tho I don't know that that's the case).

Ah, I just assumed a lot of people watched it, especially the bigger bands. But still, it's one of the biggest festivals in the world, would the promoters settle for coverage consisting of just headline sets and a few clips of some other bands?

 

Never thought about the bit in bold, but thinking about it I can imagine a lot of bands playing would view that as a positive. Playing a gig, live on national television.

 

On a side note, I remember in 2013 when the coverage of the Main Stage was crap because Eminem, System Of A Down, Deftones and Nine Inch Nails all refused to be broadcast, and they only showed about half an hour of Green Day's set too.

If Reading want the BBC to seem interested maybe they should book more interesting lineups. Two of the three headliners this year have already had festival headline sets shown live on the Beeb since 2013, and you hardly look at the likes of Years and Years or Catfish and the Bottlemen further down the bill and think "they could do with more BBC airtime this summer" either.

R&L lineups haven't been up to scratch the fast few years to warrant extensive coverage.

 

Two hours from Reading or two hours from London?

 

Probably not much in it although Reading may take longer just due to traffic and if I ended up on the M25.
