Registered using Facebook - doesn't recognise logging in with username/password

Long time listener, first time registerer recently. I selected the 'register using Facebook' option. I would like the option to log in at work where Facebook is banned, so I went into my profile and set a local password. However for any computer I use, it doesn't recognise my username/password combination. Is there something silly I'm missing?

I'm a little confused about what you're saying is happening.

When you say it won't let you log in on "any computer I use", is that computers at work? If so, I'd guess that your work "ban" on facebook is a block on any internet connection to facebook, which is likely to stop the "login using facebook" optiooin working.

If it's not that, could you please give a clearer explanation of what's happening?

No problem, I frequently confuse myself with what I say.

- I've signed up for a few forums in my time, but this is the first one I've selected the 'Sign in with Facebook' option when registering.

- I'm presuming that if you register with Facebook then you can also set a 'traditional' username/password login in addition. (If I'm wrong about that then we can stop right there)

- I went into 'My settings' and it initially offered an option to set a local password, which I did. The email/password section currently offers an option to change this password.

- I'm presuming that this password, together with my screen name, can log me in if I'm using a device/workplace which doesn't support Facebook login (again, if I'm incorrect, please stop me)

- To test this out, I've logged out and tried to sign in, in a 'traditional' way without using the 'Use Facebook' option.

- Each time, it comes up with an incorrect username/password error.

From your account details in the admin control panel your account is showing as a facebook linked account, and so I guess that's what it is.

If you register using Facebook, your username for logging in is your actual real-life name, not the account name. Combined with the password which you can set in the user control panel, this is your login for devices/computers where Facebook login is unavailable.
