The new Mew album is unfortunately slightly average; definitely doesn't have the spark of Frengers or And the Glass Handed Kites, still worth a listen though

I can see this getting daytime play as well because it's not quite as demonic. Still got that atmosphere tho.

Yeah I'm ready to call Grievances their masterpiece but I said that about Cosmology AND Astraea so basically they're just a very, very good band and they keep making very, very good albums

Opalescent is my favourite after the first listen. Just totes dig the melodic vocals/ vibe to the song.

Not familiar with deafhaven. Rarely get the chance to listen to good heavy music these days. Edit: ignore me, they have an album called Sunbather? Yes I do know them. Only listened to Funereal once, I kinda know what you mean with comparison- I'll have to listen to it again though.(it's like the second to last song isn't it?)

I'm surprised they aren't a bigger hit than they actually are, the majority of their music- is phenomenal.

Prelude III -> Opalescant is just obscene. No one should be allowed to write sequential tracks like that.

There was a really nice Vice article about Rolo Tomassi which basically said what I've been saying for half a decade, in that Rolo Tomassi are the truest, most progressive pioneers in heavy music at the moment.
