They're still a good band and all but I'm pretty bored of The Cribs. Don't think I'd pay to go to one of their shows again.

 

Sort of how I feel, I've seen them in excess of 20 times live. I can still enjoy the live shows a lot, but I get a lot more critical of them these days. I'd probably go if it weren't for the crowds having morphed into mainly 17 year old posers, they used to be cool maaaaaan.

 

Gorilla is a tiny venue right? Isn't that the club where they have comedians on every now and then?

Not really tiny, no. I think it's biggest venue in Manchester they've headlined (the others being Ruby Lounge, The Deaf Institute and The Soup Kitchen). Probably about 500 capacity.

Yeah I thought they'd be playing venues like Leeds met or Manchester academy 2. They're smaller than I realised I guess.

I don't think Academy 2 is much bigger than Gorilla, and Gorilla is much better, so I'm happy. Only a year ago they were getting excited about selling out the 260 capacity Deaf Institute about 2 weeks before the show, the new album has made them bigger, but not that much bigger. There was nearly nobody there when I saw them in Bristol in April, but that was at least partially due to Sharon Van Etten being at Trinity the same night and hoovering the crowd.

Academy 1 is around 2k capacity

Academy 2 is around 1k 

Academy 3 is around 500 I think

I've never been Gorilla but if it's only 500 capacity it's a lot close to Academy 3 level standards

Mate! It is all about the self titled album

 

But I don't think the new album is going to be great though. But still planning on seeing them though.

Self titled is great, but the charm on my grandpa vs pneumonia is what does it for me
