Gotta say as much as I love Jack, when I saw what he was doing with the Ultra LP I just thought it was something extremely pretentious to do, as cool as the concept and features may be.

He just likes new things I suppose, And being the one to bring those new things. Doesn't really matter as it's just a nice additional thing for the diehard fans; and lord knows he has diehard fans.

I do. I've done it a fair number of times.

Hell, sometimes I play songs by different artists simultaneously to see how they overlap. LCD Soundsystem + Flaming Lips combine surprisingly well.

I don't think its overly pretentious is it? It's just an interesting and unique way to do his new LP. Jack loves to push the boundaries to do new things, he always has done and always will. What did you expect? haha

I guess you can look at anything extra on an LP other than the actual songs as being pointless then. It'll have all the songs plus the added extras. You're not even paying more for the album so I don't see why there's hate towards the whole concept.

I don't hate it as such, I'd just rather play the record and flip it when the side is over, rather than fiddling about with it even more. I'm still likely to buy it

I think the added extras are on all the records. It's the standard copy (I think).

Yeah, to my knowledge he's just calling the concept an Ultra LP. This is the standard release.

I said it sounded complicated because it did in fact sound complicated to me.

Some people have said it sounded pretentious and that's not necessarily hate. If White was bothered about coming off as pretentious I doubt he'd travel with two different bands, have records for shortest ever gig and quickest record made, etc.

Didn't really need two pages of squabbling.
