Crap bands and their crap songs

A couple of times, yeah. It was in the early days though, I thought they were cool but didn't pay a lot of attention to them and certainly didn't back them to get anywhere.

The bottom band, Dutch Criminal Record, are my mates band so I would've gone down to see them and just sat around having a pint of two during Royal Blood and whoever the hell the headliners are.

I dunno if I would say better. They were certainly different, here's an incredibly early version of Come On Over for example

The songs are now played technically better IMO, but yeah they're not necessarily as raw and stuff now so it depends on what you want from a band really.

Pretty cool that actually. I didn't expect the acoustic guitar or the slide.

I don't get why two-piece bands have this brotherhood thing going on with these shows and tours and stuff. Saves on space I imagine but it kinda risks getting repetitive.

I guess they generally have the same audience, and probably have similar influences. Though at that gig they were the only duo out of the 3/4 support acts.

Fair enough but I suppose they should be striving to be accepted as a band not a novelty. Every Royal Blood review I read recently had to talk excessively about them being a two piece and they've drawn comparisons to The White Stripes, The Black Keys, DFA and Drenge, all of whom I don't think they don't really sound much like at all. If I were in one of these bands I'd want them to focus on the music and not surround myself with other two pieces as to play up to it but there was a Deap Vally tour last year with Drenge, that DZ/BRS/Slaves tour, that one that you just said which I suppose isn't that bad. I dunno if it really matters but it seems silly to climb right into the pigeonhole.

I remember royal blood when they were supporting Wet Nuns just less than a year ago. They were the best of the 3 support acts, they definitely had a sound like they were gonna be big.

Weren't as good as Wet Nuns though.

I've said this before but Royal Blood just aren't as interesting live as other blues-rock duos like Wet Nuns or The Bots, but that probably explains their success.
