JayBalls
I heard people talking about The National for years on here and elsewhere but never really got in to it, you know when a band just clicks with you? It happened over the lockdowns in 2020 when I really started listening to them and thought "I get it" ya know? I've been through their discography a few times since and anyway myself and the gf have bought tickets to Manchester in August, can't wait 😊
scatteredscreens
Let's give this thread a well deserved bump with this news of an upcoming single ft Bon Iver. If you've seen them this year, Weird Goodbyes was referred to as Bathwater on setlists.

I did see it on the setlist for a show the other day and thought it was an actual brand new title with Bathwater as a different thing. Obviously not. Obviously not. Yeah a recent setlist has debunked this by having it listed as Weird Goodbyes (Bathwater)

Not at all, think it was literally like the last gig or so they played they added the Weird Goodbyes bit

Justin isn’t utilised nearly enough which is disappointing - might as well not even be on it tbh.

Porcelina
I thought he came through quite clearly with earbuds in on first listen! Didn't expect a standalone Exile-esque chorus. He's on there more clearly than Vanderlyle anyway. Edited August 22, 2022 by Porcelina

Precisely First time I heard that version I couldn’t even tell it was Taylor 😂 She sings the same verse as the original in a style that just sounds like she’s the 4th sister. jparx
I feel like this is just setting up the holy trinity at G23. The National headlining the Other, and Bon Iver subbing Taylor the following night 🫠

Hugh Jass II
Liked that, agree that it sounds like something from the last two records.

st dan
After many listens of the new song - I love it. They are the only band currently that take me to ‘places’ when listening to them, as in getting lost in the music and lyrics. Can’t wait to see them on Saturday! 1986
Isn't Sufjan almost invisibly on a few High Violet tracks as well? Like the new song, will sound great live on Friday I'm sure.
1986
Justin V might not get his own tear jerking verse but him harmonising with Matt is actually pretty great. As much as the two acts/bands have meshed over the years they have never actually sung together have they?
