I heard people talking about The National for years on here and elsewhere but never really got in to it, you know when a band just clicks with you? It happened over the lockdowns in 2020 when I really started listening to them and thought "I get it" ya know? I've been through their discography a few times since and anyway myself and the gf have bought tickets to Manchester in August, can't wait 😊

Let's give this thread a well deserved bump with this news of an upcoming single ft Bon Iver. If you've seen them this year, Weird Goodbyes was referred to as Bathwater on setlists.

I did see it on the setlist for a show the other day and thought it was an actual brand new title with Bathwater as a different thing. Obviously not.

Yeah a recent setlist has debunked this by having it listed as Weird Goodbyes (Bathwater)

I thought he came through quite clearly with earbuds in on first listen! Didn't expect a standalone Exile-esque chorus. He's on there more clearly than Vanderlyle anyway.

After many listens of the new song - I love it.
They are the only band currently that take me to ‘places’ when listening to them, as in getting lost in the music and lyrics. Can’t wait to see them on Saturday!

Justin V might not get his own tear jerking verse but him harmonising with Matt is actually pretty great. As much as the two acts/bands have meshed over the years they have never actually sung together have they?
