I said this in the APE thread but was Matt ill? Sound was decent (for a change in Vic Park!) but his voice seemed well off.

Otherwise, the band were good but not great for me. It was the worst I've seen them but still a solid 7/10.

Was at the Manchester gig the following day, and wouldn’t have said his voice sounded off at all! But saying that the crowd were singing every word so may have passed me by.

Either way, I thought he appeared to be well into it, as did the whole band. Right up there (probably top) of the 10 times I’ve seen them .. but that could be due to many other factors.

Yeah, the London APE crowd was a definite negative for me on this occasion. I do love how subjective these things are though - if you had a good day and got good people around you it could be completely different.

I think their APE show a few years ago was the best I've seen them, for example, as it just caught me in the right moment.

How was the Manchester venue haven't been there yet .

I really didn't like the venue.  First time I've been and there are so many pillars blocking views which you can work around but not ideal, extremely hot and the bars were crap for me as they appeared to be more geared towards a Warehouse Project type of crowd....the beers were in 12 pack boxes you get from supermarkets and not really chilled but the sound was excellent and the gig outstanding but will not be hurrying back to this venue.

There was also a Cherry Tree email out encouraging people to ensure their details are up-to-date which bodes well.

Where do we reckon they could play on the farm? Not in conversation for Other Headliner/Pyramid sub at the mo so not quite sure where to place them; a very strong Park headline option?

Although Park headliners do fluctuate in size and we have had some quite big ones, I think they’re still too big for that and would need to headline Other next time they play, although I don’t think that’s gonna be this year.

I don't think they'll be anywhere this year, but would like them for other headliner next year. They will die on their arse again as a pyramid sub, even though they could have played a safe 'greatest hits' set and it would have gone down well. I think they'd be a very big park headliner tbh and therefore unlikely.

Other sub?

Park headliner would be utterly sublime but they're probably too big for that.

I don't think they'd bother with anything less than other headliner since in Europe and UK they can headline mid sized fests with ease.

I really wish they didn't fuck up their last Glastonbury set as hard as they did. Hopefully they get invited back.

Yeah this is true, they did a run of festivals last year so this summer they may opt for their own shows but would be a prime candidate for 2024 Other headliners I'd say.

I'm expecting them to tour extensively in the US this year due to last years European fest run. Not expecting them around Europe/UK much. Maybe late this year like the IAETF tour in 2019.

Given they flew in to do 3 UK shows last year in the middle of the US tour, I’d expect them back at some point, they’re just always here.

No idea where they fit anywhere festival-wise any more (Castlefield Bowl again + Other Stage, or a big End of the Road headliner are pretty much my guesses and neither seem right).

I wonder if given there’s such a long promo cycle there might be some shows before release again.

If not then yeah I’d expect a tour in the autumn – hopefully back to Apollo-sized venues.
